  Billy Idol 的歌 "Mony Mony"是甚麼意思?

  Billy Idol是翻唱1968年由Tommy James and the Shondells所寫的同名暢銷曲，"Mony Mony"其實是紐約一家保險公司Mutual of New York Insurance Company的縮寫 M-O-N-Y。

  Tommy James解釋起初他們沒有一首歌的概念，只是想創作一張派對搖滾唱片，1968年有很多60年代早期的老歌新唱，沒人真的製作派對搖滾唱片，他有把加州、陽光、大鼓、賺錢的元素集合起來的概念，促成了他製作派對搖滾唱片的決定。

  Tommy James and the Shondells的團隊帶了以上的概念進了錄音室，把鼓和吉他也帶來，準備來一次音響革命，大伙在一起忙了一個月。歌詞寫了不少，可是一直沒想好歌名，這事讓大家很煩，他們曾想用類似二個音節的女孩名子例如'Sloopy'會比較好記，但也挺驢的。

  Tommy James與作曲搭檔Ritchie Cordell在他紐約的家裡想歌名急得發瘋，他們把吉它丟到地上，然後到陽台抽菸，仰頭長嘆，沒想到一眼就看到一家保險公司的廣告the Mutual of New York Insurance Company. M-O-N-Y。

  Tommy James回想這段往事，Mony，M-O-N-Y，Mutual of New York.。二人當時在陽台相視而笑了十分鐘，說「幾近完美」! 二人都覺得很不錯，歌名誕生了。

  Billy Idol來自英格蘭，曾是倫敦龐克樂隊Generation X領隊(1977-1981)， 〈Mony Mony "Live "〉是他個人在Billboard Hot 100排行榜名次最好的歌，1987年曾獲的單周冠軍。

  Tommy James and the Shondells是1960年代的知名合唱團，他們在排行榜名次最好的歌是1966年的成名成名曲"Hanky Panky"與1968年的"Crimson and Clover"，這二首歌都獲得二週冠軍。他們的"Mony Mony"1968年曾獲得第3名。

Jane Morgan-Fascination

    1957年的黑白片Love In the Afternoon「黃昏之戀」是一部經典名片，男主角賈利·古柏與女主角奧黛麗··赫本的搭檔演出，讓人難忘。

  奧黛麗·赫本主演的一個學大提琴的巴黎女生阿莉(Arianne)和賈利·古柏主演的風流美國富商法蘭克法那肯年齡差很多，但彼此相愛，天真無邪的她從頭到尾哼著吉普賽樂班演奏的"Fascination"「陶醉」，看得出他已經陶醉在愛河裏，演技讓人印像深刻，而這一首插曲也替這部羅漫蒂克電影增色不少。

   Jane Morgan早年在英國和法國發展，在美國踏入歌壇後成名，也曾在百老匯演出，Jane Morgan and The Troubadors演唱的"Fascination"，1957年曾獲得Billboard Hot 100單曲排行榜第7名，而法語流行歌曲" C'est Si Bon"「真是太棒了」，也在戲中由吉普賽樂班演奏出，此曲原來由 Jacques Hélian & son Orchestre (1948) 唱紅，美國有不少人翻唱 。

  Ringo Starr說他是個「小丑」，做讓他高興的事，歌詞“Got to be a joker he just do what he please“。

Lynyrd Skynyrd-Free Bird

 令人頭皮發麻的專輯你知道是哪張嗎?

  是 Lynyrd Skynyrd.的Street Survivors

  它不血腥、不露骨、也不特別生動，但在專輯封面可見到該團團員站在大街上，火焰環繞著他們。

  為何令人毛骨悚然?事實上在這張專輯發行第三天，Lynyrd Skynyrd合唱團的飛機失事，招牌人物Ronnie Van Zant與吉它手Steve Gaines、Steve的妹妹伴唱Cassie、巡迴演唱經理Dean Kilpatrick與正、副飛機駕駛元全部罹難，其他團員也都身負重傷。

  在唱片封套上吉它手Gaines的眼睛是閉上的，而且幾乎被火焰吞沒。對Steve的去世，這個封面已經足夠令人不安。 Teresa事後要求MCA Records將唱片下架，MCA 唱片公司也照辦。後來那張專輯換封面後重新發行，當然沒有了火焰環繞團員。

2007年重新整理後的原創專輯將放在Lynyrd Skynyrd合唱團的30周年紀念版裡。

Southern-rock band「南方搖滾」合唱團 Lynyrd Skynyrd來自佛羅里達州Jacksonville，合唱團名來自他們體育老師Leonard Skinner名字的諧音。前述的飛機失事意外10/20/1977發生於密西西比州 Gillsburg 。

Lynyrd Skynyrd合唱團在Billboard Hot 100 排行榜名次最好的歌是1974年獲得第8名的"Sweet Home Alabama" ，而當年接著推出獲得第19名的"Free Bird"則深獲歌迷們喜愛，在滾石雜誌RS500排行榜獲得193名。

Bachman-Turner Overdrives-You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet

  本周要將The Guess Who合唱團相關的故事做一個終結。

  The Guess Who於1975年解散，Burton Cummins於1976年推出一首個人的單曲" Stand Tall"，曾獲得Billboard Hot 100排行榜第10名的佳績。而吉它手Randy Bachman，1970年即離團自組BTO( Bachman-Turner Overdrives)合唱團。

 

  Burton Cummins 1947年出生於加拿大Winnipeg,Manitoba，1966年加入The Guess Who合唱團取代 Chad Allen成為主唱，是該團成功的要角，1975年Guess Who解散後，他於次年推出個人的單曲" Stand Tall"， 是一首動聽的搖滾歌謠。1982年Burton Cummins還曾參加電影《Melanie》「梅蘭妮」的演出。

 

  The Guess Who合唱團的吉它手Randy Bachman出生於加拿大溫哥華，他寫了該團大部分的暢銷曲，他於1970年離團自組BTO( Bachman-Turner Overdrives)合唱團，那是一個Hard-rock band 重搖滾樂團，他們的"You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet " (1974/#1) 與" Taking Care of Business"  (1974#12)都是令人印象深刻的歌。
