Police -Every Breath You Take

    來自英國的 Police 合唱團 1983年以〈Every Breath You Take〉獲得連續 8周冠軍。主唱 Gordon"Sting"Summer（本名 Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner）外號「Sting」（意為：螫針），這個外號起源於他 18 歲左右在爵士樂團表演時，因為穿了一件黑黃相間的條紋毛衣，被團員戲稱看起來像一隻大黃蜂。

  The Police 合唱團原來是一個「 雷鬼風格的搖滾三人組」(Reggae-inflected rock trio)。1985年 Sting 離團而去從事個人的歌唱事業。

  〈Every Breath YouTake〉這首歌在滾石雜誌 RS500排行獲得第84名。在 BMI公佈美國廣播電視播放次數最多的「世紀百首金曲」〈Every Breath You Take〉獲得第15名。

     為了創作他們最熱門的歌曲，the Police 回歸本源，甚至捨棄了原本繁複的掃弦部分，以免分散聽眾對歌曲催眠般貝斯旋律的注意力。Sting 承認，歌詞——聽起來溫柔，實則苦澀——是從搖滾樂的陳腔濫調中直接搬過來的。「〈Every Breath You Take〉是一首典型的歌曲，」他告訴《滾石》雜誌。

    四年後，在Sting這番「不原創卻引以為傲」的宣言之後，吹牛老爹（Puff Daddy） 採樣了〈Every Breath You take〉，創作了《自己的熱門歌曲》。

  （Puff Daddy）本名Sean Combs ，紐約哈林區出生，是一位饒舌歌手、作曲人、製作人及企業家。 是1997年冠軍歌星。1990年代晚期 ，饒舌歌手會穿插名歌星的歌曲片段在新歌中，例如 1997年 Puff Dady連續11周的冠軍曲〈I’ll Be Missing You〉就穿插有〈Every Breath You Take〉。

  〈I’ll Be Missing You〉演唱者全名 Puff Daddy & Faith Evans(featuring 112) 。Tribut To The Notorios B.I.G。samples〈Every Breath You take〉and a snippet of〈fly away〉。他的一首歌借用了不少同行的歌曲片段，「不原創但引以為傲」，算是一種遮掩說法吧。以(samples)之名借別人的作品用，後來已少見。

      Sting 1985年曾在Dire Straits 的成名曲〈Money For Nothing〉唱合聲。 2018年與牙買家歌手Shaggy合作專輯《44/876》獲得Grammy最佳雷鬼專輯。 Sting 也常為拯救雨林和國際特赦組織等為環保生態與人權維護而奔走。

    美國鄉村音樂傳奇歌星桃莉芭頓（DollyParton)於美國時間8月25日(2026)在納許維爾安詳離世，享壽80歲。

    Dolly Parton於 1946年出生於田納西州的 Locust Ridge，是著名的鄉村歌星與演員，1967-2008年她一共有111首歌進鄉村歌曲排行榜，Dolly在流行歌唱界亦很受歡迎，歷年暢銷歌星排行榜她獲得第251名。

    1980年 Dolly Parton 曾與珍芳達一同演出電影《9 to 5》「朝九晚五」，並演唱同名主題曲，此曲在當年11月底並獲得二週排行榜冠軍。而1980年11月底這首歌同時也進入鄉村歌曲排行榜，而且在1981年元月底獲得冠軍，這首歌後來也獲得Grammy鄉村歌曲獎與女歌星獎。按 Dolly Parton的說法：1980年她在拍與珍芳達合演的「朝九晚五」《9 To 5》那部電影的時候感到非常無聊，因為每個鏡頭都要拍很久，中間又沒事可做，對初次拍電影的她而言，在片場呆坐不如寫點東西打發時間，沒想到她因此而寫與電影同名的排行榜冠軍主題曲〈9 To 5〉。

    Kenny Rogers 1983 年的《Eyes That See In The Dark》是一張由Bee Gees協助完成的專輯唱片，Barry Gibb 寫了這張唱片大部份的歌，〈Islands In The Stream 〉這首歌原來由Kenny Rogers獨唱，但感覺一直不對，後來終於找來Dolly Parton跟他合唱，使這首歌在鄉村與流行榜都獲冠軍，是當年的年度最佳歌曲。

    DollyParton 在『波特·瓦格納秀』( The Porter Wagoner Show)的巡迴巴士後座上寫下了〈五彩斑斕的外套〉(Coat of Many Colors)。這是一首極其真誠的歌曲，無論是開啟你的鄉村之旅，還是僅僅為了重溫經典。畢竟，美國是一個你可以從破爛的外衣起家，最終成為 DollyParton 的地方。

Bob Marley-Redemption Song

   Bob Marley 在滾石雜誌 RS500 專業人士評選的 500 大歌曲榜一共有4首歌進榜，除了〈No Woman,No Cry [live]〉之外，還有一首獲得第 66名的〈 Redemption Song〉也不能錯過。

  Bob Marley 此前已經和他的樂團錄製過另一個版本的這首自由讚歌。當時 Island唱片公司的 Blackwell建議他嘗試用原聲民謠的形式演繹。受 Marcus Garvey 的著作啟發，(Marcus Garvey是牙買加黑人民族主義者他的政治思想被稱為加維主義。)。Marley 的歌詞將音樂視為對抗奴役（包括精神和肉體上的奴役）的解藥。

  「我很想多創作一些這樣的作品，」Marley 在1981年去世前幾個月曾這樣說道。這首歌本可能預示著他作品的新方向；然而，作為他最後一張專輯的最後一首歌，它卻成了Marley的墓誌銘。

  最近因部落格介紹 UB40受到眾多歌迷們的喜愛,今天特別把 UB40團員最崇拜的 Bob Marley 經典雷鬼歌曲介紹給大家。

 Bob Marley1945年2月16日出生於牙買加羅登霍爾。 1981年5月11日因癌症去世（享年36歲）。傳奇雷鬼歌手/詞曲作者/吉他手。他的哭泣者樂隊The Wailers成員包括 Peter Tosh 和 Bunny Wailer；兩人均於1974年離隊。Bob Marley 是 Damian Marley 和 Ziggy Marley 的父親。 1990年，馬利的生日被牙買加定為全國假日。    1994年 Bob Marley 獲選入搖滾名人堂。1994 年獲得葛萊美終身成就獎。

UB40 and Chrissie Hynde- I Got You Babe

     UB40 有一首與 Chrissie Hynde合唱的〈 I Got You Babe 〉1985年獲得英國排行榜冠軍 ，但是 在美國的 Billboard Hot 100排行榜只獲得第28名。這首歌最早是Sonny and Cher 1965 的連續3周 排行榜冠軍成名曲。我們先回憶一下1960年代非常紅的Sonny and Cher 的崛起。

UB40-Red Red Wine

     UB40除了〈Can't Help Falling in Love〉獲得 Billboard Hot 100 排行榜連續七周冠軍之外， 他們另外還有一首冠軍曲 ,1988年的〈Red Red Wine〉。

 （Guy Zapoleon）是一位以慧眼識英雄著稱的節目總監，1988年夏天，他在亞利桑那州鳳凰城的 KZZP-F'M電台工作時，他的兩位部屬 （Todd Fisher）和 （Gene Baxter）向他推薦了UB40 樂團的歌曲〈Red Red Wine〉。Zapoleon知道UR4O的這首歌早在1984年4月就登上了排行榜第34名，但他覺得這首歌還沒有發揮出真正的潛力。於是，他從1988年開始在一個名為《Party Patrol》的周六晚間節目中再次播放這首歌。當點播聲如潮水般湧來時，他便將這首歌加入了全天候播放列表，這首歌也因此迅速走紅。

  Zapkeon力勸 A&M唱片公司重新發行〈Red Red Wine〉，但唱片公司當時正忙於宣傳樂團的最新專輯 所以一開始並不情願。當全國其他電台都用〈Red Red Wine〉取代新單曲〈Breakfast in Bed〉時，唱片公司最終決定發行這首老歌。

    其實〈Red Red Wine〉的作曲者早在1968年也錄製過這首歌。Neil Diamond 的版本由Bang唱片公司發行 ，最高只獲得排行榜第62名。 「我們以前從未聽說過 Neil Diamond的版本，」UB40樂隊的 Robin Campbell 透露，「我們根本不知道 Neil Diamond 和這首歌有任何關係。 我們當時只知道 Tony Tribe 的版本。」

UB4O-Can't Help Falling in Love

    今天要介紹的歌是一個成立於英國伯明罕的跨種族雷鬼樂團 UB40 於1993年推出獲得 Billboard Hot 100 排行榜連續7周冠軍的老歌新唱 〈Can't Help Falling in Love〉。

  UB4O錄製 （Can't Help Falling in Love）這首歌原來是為了電影原聲帶，但 最終未出現在電影中 。「我們被要求為電影《拉斯維加斯蜜月》（Honeymoon in Vegas）錄製一首貓王的歌曲，」樂團成員 Robin Campbell 回憶:「我們的鼓手Jimmy 選了這首歌，因為他記得它。我們覺得他們肯定會喜歡，但我們自己卻不太滿意。」UB40 的八位成員當時並不知道，大約還有200位製作人的歌曲可供選擇。最終，〈Can't Help Falling in Love〉出現在了電影中，但演唱者是U2樂團的 Bono，而不是UB40。

  如果 電影《銀色》（Sliver）的音樂總監 Tim Sexton沒有讓這首歌重獲新生，UB40最終會發行它嗎？ 「我覺得不會，」Robin Campbell 回憶:「當時我們正在製作自己的專輯《Promises and Lies》，裡面的歌都是原創的，我們並不急於收錄翻唱歌曲：我們為此爭論過。樂隊裡有些人不想收錄這首歌，因為他們覺得它與專輯的其他歌曲風格不符。但我非常想收錄它，因為我知道它肯定會大受歡迎，我覺得不收錄太愚蠢了。」

  〈Can't Help Falling in Love〉是1993年電台播放的幾首雷鬼歌曲 Reggae 之一，其他還有 Inner Circle 的（Bad Boys）和 Mad Cobra 的〈Flex〉。 「這標誌著雷鬼 Reggae音樂終於在美國流行起來了，」Campbell 感動地說:「我們來美國已經16年了。我們第一次在那裡演出時，人們會問，「你們演奏的是哪種搖滾樂？」他們根本不知道這種音樂叫什麼。如果他們不認識 Bob Marley，他們會說，「哦，是那種 Calypso音樂嗎？」

    我想如果 Marley沒有去世，雷鬼樂可能會情況就不同了，因為他當時正處於在美國爆紅的邊緣。但是，卻沒有人能接替他的位置。他的離世讓雷鬼音樂的發展進程倒退了一大步。不過，在美國成為第一名的感覺很棒，因為當時有很多雷鬼藝人在那裡取得了成功。

     UB40的這首單曲是少數幾首初次發行時就達到第2名的歌(後來得到冠軍)。其他類似的歌曲包括 Gladys Knight & the Pips與 Marvin Gaye分別推出的〈I Heard It Through theGrapevine〉、Richard Harris 與 Donna Summer分別推出的 〈MacArthur Park〉及 EIton John 與 George Michael with Eiton 合唱〈Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me〉。

  〈Can't Help Falling in Love〉原唱貓王演唱的版本在1962年2月獲得 Billboard 雜誌單曲排行榜第2名，被 Joey Dee & the Starliters〈Peppermint Twist - Part I 〉擋在了榜首之外 。在滾石雜誌的 RS500 則獲得第403名。是當年非常受歡迎的抒情老歌。
