Bob Marley1945年2月16日出生於牙買加羅登霍爾。 1981年5月11日因癌症去世（享年36歲）。傳奇雷鬼歌手/詞曲作者/吉他手。他的哭泣者樂隊The Wailers成員包括 Peter Tosh 和 Bunny Wailer；兩人均於1974年離隊。Bob Marley 是 Damian Marley 和 Ziggy Marley 的父親。 1990年，馬利的生日被牙買加定為全國假日。 1994年 Bob Marley 獲選入搖滾名人堂。1994 年獲得葛萊美終身成就獎。
Bob Marley 進入Billboard 單曲排行榜的歌有三首 1.〈 Roots, Rock, Reggae 〉 2.〈Exodus〉3.〈Turn Your Lights Down Low.〉名次都不高,但其他許多作品都收錄到 Classic Non-hot 100 Songs「經典非熱門歌曲 100 首」中,給喜歡他的歌迷們一個參考。
〈No Woman, No Cry [live]〉是 Bob Marley在滾石雜誌 RS500獲得第37名的經典之作,1975 年推出的 〈No Woman, No Cry [live]〉先後獲得 HRH (Honor Roll Of Hits)熱門歌曲榮譽榜★ Grammy: Hall of Fame 葛萊美名人堂 ★R&R Hall of Fame 搖滾樂名人堂★ RS500#37滾石雜誌500大排行榜第37名。
〈No Woman, No Cry [live]〉這首歌裡面提及的The government Yard 指的是牙買加的公共住宅，Bob Marley在20世紀50年代末居住
於此。為了幫助維持福特在金斯頓的救濟食堂的運營，馬利將〈No Woman, No Cry〉的詞曲創作署名給了兒時好友Vincent “Tata”Ford 。收錄於：《Natty Dread》專輯（Island唱片公司）。
