Bobby Fuller之死

一本講1966年搖滾樂手Bobby Fuller的書The Dead Circus「死亡廣場」今夏將改拍成電影，導演是Adam Davenport，演員有James Marsden 和Melissa Leo。

Bobby Fuller 1942年出生於德州，他的Bobby Fuller Four 合唱團1966年有一首I Fought The Law曾獲排行榜第9名，但他們也只有這一首暢銷曲，因為Bobby Fuller在1966年7月18日詭異的於好萊塢自家門前母親車內被發現因廢氣窒息而死，身上有挫傷和血跡，當年僅23歲，雖然警方以自殺後來改意外結案，但幾十年來他的親人與工作伙伴都懷疑此事不單純，也有人懷疑他的女友Melanie的前男友與此案有牽扯，因此這案子被視為美國演藝史上懸案之一。

I Fought The Law是收進搖滾樂名人堂的歌，在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜獲第175名！

Deep Purple與Frank Zappa

3月23日在莫斯科開演唱會的Deep Purple重搖滾樂合唱團，在演出前受到俄羅斯總統麥德維德也夫邀請到他的官邸作客，跟所有的歌迷一樣，他說從前開始聽Deep Purple的歌時從沒想到有朝一日能在同一桌旁和他們相聚，Deep Purple也很客氣的回贈一套鼓棒給他（前蘇聯時代能聽搖滾樂嗎？）。 Deep Purple來自英國，組成於1960年代後期，他們的經典之作是1973年第4 名且入選搖滾樂名人堂的歌Smoke On The Water，這首歌創作的靈感因1971年Deep Purple在一家叫Montreux的賭場替Frank Zappa的場子唱開場時發生火災而產生，Frank Zappa於1965年即組過The Mothers Of Invention合唱團，在搖滾樂界以嘲諷歌曲知名，1993年已因前列腺癌去世（52歲），他們也有一首進搖滾樂名人堂的歌1967年的Brown Shoes Don’t Make It。

Roger Williams樂在演出中

以演奏曲Autumn Leaves成名的資深鋼琴家Roger Williams最近因胰臟癌而接受化療，然而已86歲的他，3月20日依舊按原計劃在加州Palm Desert開演奏會，其餘行程也都不變。Roger Williams三歲即開始學鋼琴，曾在著名的茱莉亞音樂學院就讀，後來因為在電視才藝節目獲獎被唱片公司簽下，而開啟他的音樂演出生涯。
Autumn Leaves在1955年曾獲4週排行榜冠軍，而他1966年的電影插曲Born Free（獅子與我）更是當年奧斯卡最佳電影插曲，也是BMI全美百名最常播出歌曲榜86名的歌。
Roger Williams以鋼琴演奏曲成名，是歷年暢銷歌星排行第275名的成功藝人。

James Taylor與二個The Flying Machine合唱團

以You’ve Got A Friend一曲成名的James Taylor ，3月14日到猶他州去滑雪的第一天就摔斷腿也傷了肩膀，來自賓州波士頓的他出生於1948年，今年已經63歲，父親曾擔任北卡州醫大校長，他的妹妹Kate與兄弟Alex、Livingston也都唱歌出唱片，他曾和另一出名的女歌手Carly Simon結婚（1972-1983），是流行歌壇一段佳話。
James Taylor成名之前曾參加過一個叫The Flying Machine的合唱團（1967），這是個在紐約組成的團，與後來在英國組成的The Flying Machine（1969）是同名而已，而且英國的The Flying Machine曾有一首第5名的歌Smile A Little Smile For Me是非常動聽的歌。

Atlanta Rhythm Section主唱去世

搖滾樂團Atlanta Rhythm Section的主唱Ronnie Hammond 3月14日因心臟病去世（60歲），這個抒情搖滾樂團1971年由幾位樂師組成，他們來自Roy Orbison的伴奏團The Candymen和 Classics IV，Ronnie Hammond是1972年加入該團取代原主唱Rodney Justo，Atlanta Rhythm Section有暢銷曲So In To You(1977第7名), Imaginary Lover （1978第7名), Do It Or Die(1979第19名) 和Spooky (1979第17名)，他們在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜是第483名的團体，Spook原來是Classics IV 1967年第3名的名曲，Atlanta Rhythm Section 1979年翻唱只得到第17名，顯然Classics IV的主唱，2008年已去世的Dennis Yost歌聲與薩克司風的伴奏有其特色，在歌迷們心目中不容別人取代。

Wayne Fontana又惹麻煩

1965年以排行榜冠軍曲Game Of Love成名的搖滾樂手Wayne Fontana，3月9日正準備在他的老家英國曼徹斯特開唱前被上手銬帶走，警方一直找他出庭解決一個超速罰款的案子，Wayne第二天早上被保釋，但告訴他4月7日要出庭，Wayne Fontana三年前因為一件車內縱火案坐了11個月的牢。
Wayne Fontana當年是以Wayne Fontana＆The Mindbenders團名成名，他們除了冠軍曲Game Of Love之外，1966年獲得過排行榜二週第二名的A Groovy Kind Of Love更是一首非常動聽的歌，在BMI全美最常播出100首歌曲榜中，它是第73 名的歌，另一位英籍巨星Phil Collins於1988年重新翻唱曾獲二週排行榜冠軍曲。

Johnny Preston逝世

1950年代晚期被The Big Bopper（J P Richardson）所發掘的早期搖滾樂手Johnny Preston,3月4日在德州逝世（71歲）， 他去年開始就為心與肺的問題所苦，Johnny Preston學生時代在俱樂部駐唱，受到當時在電台主持節目的The Big Bopper的注意，後來他介紹Johnny與Mercury唱片公司簽約，還幫他寫了Running Bear那首歌，沒想到唱片發行之前The Big Bopper與Buddy Holly、Ritchie Valence等人一起因飛機失事而喪生（2/3/1959），這是搖滾樂史上的一件大事，但Running Bear後來在排行榜穫得三週冠軍，值得一提的是，這首歌背景幫忙學印地安人吼叫的是Big Bopper與後來鄉村歌壇的巨星George Jones。

Billy Joel將出版自傳

HarperCollins出版社三月3日宣佈：Billy Joel的自傳The Book Of Joel將在六月14日發行，Billy Joel 1949年出生於紐約的Bronx，係歷年暢銷歌星排行榜第34名的流行搖滾巨星，1960年代後期他曾經參加過The Hassles合唱團，1974年以一首Piano Man開始走紅，1977 年的Just The Way You Are更獲得當年的年度歌曲，使他從此在流行歌壇一帆風順。
Billy Joel最近也推出Live At Shea Stadium演唱會專輯（含2CD＋1DVD），Shea Stadium是美國職棒紐約大都會隊的主場，1964年蓋好後使用了45年，2009 年已拆除，這個体育場設計成有多用途的功能，The Beatles披頭合唱團1965年八月15日 的演出，是這個体育場第一場搖滾樂團的表演，後來The Who, The Police, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen 和 The Clash這些超級歌星與樂團都在此演出過，而2008年七月16-18日Billy Joel的演唱會則為它劃下完美的句點。

Randy Newman獲金像獎

3月27日頒獎的第83屆奧斯卡金像獎，Randy Newman替「玩具總動員3」所寫的We Belong Together，獲得一座原創電影歌曲獎，這是Randy在二十次提名後所獲的第二座奧斯卡獎。
Randy Newman 1943年出生於路易斯安那州的紐奧良，能唱歌、作曲、彈鋼琴，2001年他的「怪獸電力公司」插曲If I Didn’t Have You，也曾獲奧斯卡原創電影歌曲獎，他 1977年的Short People 曾獲流行歌曲排行榜三週第二名，那首歌是剛來過台灣的Eagles合唱團的團員Glenn Frey、Timothy B Schmit與J.D.Souther唱背景合音。
