The J. Geils Band

來自麻塞諸塞州Worcester 的搖滾樂團the J. Geils Band的領隊與吉他手John Geils，四月11日不幸去世(71歲)。

1967年由John Geils組成的J. Geils Band主唱是Peter Wolf，"Magic" Dick Salwitz擔任口琴手，Seth Justman是鍵琴手，Danny (Dr. Funk) Klein是貝斯手，鼓手是Stephen Jo Bladd。

The J. Geils Band起初走rhythm-and blues｢節奏與藍調｣的樂風，知名的歌有"Looking For A Love" (#39-1972), "Give It To Me" (#30-1973) 及"Must Of Got Lost" (#12-1975)，同一時間他們還擔任了the Byrds、the Allman Brothers Band這二個大牌合唱團演唱會的開場演唱，獲得了熱烈的迴響。

1980年代興起的new-wave風音樂，主宰了流行歌壇，the J. Geils Band也搭上了這班車，他們的"Centerfold"於1982年得到了排行榜冠軍，接著推出的"Freeze-Frame"則得到第4名，而回頭以R&B樂風推出的"I Do"則於1983年得到24名。

好景不常在，J. Geils Band的主唱Peter Wolf也於1983年離團而去從事個人的歌唱事業，沒到二年J. Geils Band就解散了。

公元二千年後部分團員們重聚並復出演唱過幾次，但John Geils因他的隊友用團名巡迴演唱但沒有他在內，他還憤而提告過。

John Geils大部分時間與Dick Salwitz在一起繼續玩音樂，取了一個團名叫 Bluestime，出過二張專輯。

The J. Geils Band曾二度提名進搖滾樂名人堂，但都沒有成功進去。

The J. Geils Band暢銷曲不少，在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜獲得第335名，他們成績最好的歌就是1981年11月7日推出，後來獲得六週排行榜軍的"Centerfold"。
