民歌手Phoebe Snow病故

以1975排行榜第5名暢銷曲Poetry Man成名的民歌手、作曲人、吉它手Phoebe Snow，4月26日因腦溢血併發去世（58歲），Phoebe Snow 本名Phoebe Laub，出生於紐約，她的藝名來自一個廣告裡的角色，起初她在紐約著名的格林威治村唱民歌，因而被一家唱片公司發掘，除了成名曲Poetry Man之外，她還和Paul Simon 合唱了Gone At Last在1975年獲得過第23名，因為和發掘她的Shelter唱片公司公司發生糾紛，那首歌也是她之後在美國唯一的Top40流行歌曲，Phoebe把她的生活重心都放在照顧她1975年次的大腦受損的女兒上，直到2007年女兒去世為止，Phoebe Snow持續表演到2010年元月生病，當時她正準備出一張新專輯唱片，她被安排在一個醫療中心醫治，但昏迷後從來沒有真正恢復。


Phoebe Snow於1975年被提名葛拉美最佳新人，她幫NBC電視影集A Different World唱的主題歌與一家咖啡公司唱的廣告歌的招牌名句Celebrate the moments of your life都將永遠讓人懷念。

Johnny Cash 老家將改建博物館

阿肯色州立大學最近買下了 Johnny Cash在該州Dyess的老家，預定8月4日舉辦的Johnny Cash音樂節將募捐一些基金把這個Johnny Cash成長的地方改建成一個博物館，George Jones 和 Kris Kristofferson這二位鄉村歌唱界的大老將會在活動中現身。


傳奇鄉村歌手Johnny Cash是於2003年9月12日因糖尿病過世的（71歲），他和妻子June Carter的故事2006年曾改編成電影Walk The Line「為你鍾情」，演June Carter的瑞絲薇斯朋(Reese Witherspoon)因此片獲奧斯卡最佳女主角獎，June Carter本人則於2003年5月15日比Johnny Cash早幾個月因心臟病去世（73歲）。

Johnny Cash 1956年以I Walk The Line一曲成名，這首歌是滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜第30名的歌，也被收進搖滾樂名人堂，Johnny Cash本人在鄉村與流行歌壇的成就，使他在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲第94名。

除了I Walk The Line這首歌之外，在電影「為你鍾情」當中有一首Johnny Cash與June Carter合唱的Jackson也是一首非常動聽的歌，1967年在鄉村歌曲排行榜曾獲得第2名，而Nancy Sinnatra與Lee Hazlewood所唱的這首歌在熱門排行榜則獲得第14名。

Small Faces合唱團與Steve Marriott

1991年的今天（4/20）搖滾樂團Small Faces 和Humble Pie的領隊Steve Marriott在他英國Essex的家中死於一場火災（44歲），他的音樂對1990年代許多樂團有很重要的影響，Small Faces的單曲Itchycoo Park 1967年曾獲得英國排行第3名（美國獲第16名），而專輯Ogden's Nut Gone Flake則獲得英國排行冠軍。Humble Pie 於1969年則有一首英國排行第4名的歌Natural Born Bugie。


Small Faces 1969年改名Faces，後來團員Rod Stewart成了歌壇巨星，但1968年Steve Marriott即離團而去另組Humble Pie，這個團後來也出了一位紅歌星Peter Frampton。

Donny & Marie Osmond仍於秀場演出

Marie Osmond與她哥哥Donny 四月11日因Marie 13歲的女兒Brianna肋膜炎進醫院急診，而不得不取消當天他們拉斯維加斯的演出開場秀，經過醫療後Brianna已經出院，而兄妹倆的秀也在第二天晚上順利開始。


Marie Osmond最近也和英國曼徹斯特的一家廣播電台簽約主持每週一次的節目，這個曼城地方台的節目已經於四月16日開播。

Donny and Marie Osmond兄妹1970年代中期的電視節目「青春樂」給台灣觀眾留下深刻的印象，他們合作的I’m Leaving It（All）Up To You與The Morning Side Of The Mountain都是進入流行歌曲排行榜前10名的歌，但都在抒情歌曲排行榜獲得冠軍，那一首1974年得過第8名的Morning Side Of The Mountain尤其是一首動聽又可愛的情歌。

Hues Corporation一團員去世

The Hues Corporation的創團團員Bernard St. Clair Lee三月8日被發現在加州自宅因自然原因逝世（66歲），St. Clair 1969年和Fleming Williams 和Hubert Ann Kelley共組了the Hues Corporation合唱團，他們幫不少大牌歌星唱過和聲，其中包括Frank Sinatra 與Glen Campbell在內，後來因為他們替一部叫"Blacula,"的電影唱了三首插曲成績不錯，因而換來RCA的一張合約，但是RCA 唱片公司不准他們用想取的團名The Children of Howard Hughes（但最後還是保留了這個名人姓的諧音當團名） 。

The Hues Corporation的第一張單曲在1973年推出，這首Freedom For The Stallion雖然頗動聽，但在排行榜上只獲得第63名，可是接著推出的Rock The Boat就替他們得到排行榜冠軍了，後面還有一首Rockin' Soul則獲第21名，此後他們有二首歌推出後都進不了排行榜前60名，他們最後在1978年宣告解散！

1974年四月9日Terry Jacks的Seasons In The Sun在英國排行榜獲得冠軍，這是1957年繼Paul Anka之後再次有加拿大籍歌手在英國排行榜獲得冠軍，Seasons In The Sun是比利時作曲人Jacques Brel以法文所寫的民歌，英文歌詞則是詩人Rod McKuen所改寫，Terry Jacks原先與太太Susan Jacks以The Poppy Family合唱團之名出唱片，他們1970年第2名的Which Way You Going Billy？是一首當年在台灣非常受歡迎的抒情歌，1973年離婚後Terry Jacks與Susan Jacks都走個人歌唱之路，Seasons In The Sun在1974年年初曾在美國的排行榜上獲三週冠軍，是講述臨死之前懺悔心情的一首民謠搖滾。

Robin Gibb在倫敦住院

61歲的 Bee Gees合唱團成員 Robin Gibb四月3日因腹痛在倫敦住院，因而不得不取消了原將前往巴西巡迴演唱的行程， Robin 去年動過腸方面手術，不知道這次住院是不是與之相關，他的雙胞胎兄弟Maurice Gibb 2003年就是因腸方面的疾病去世的（53歲）。 Bee Gees合唱團成名於1960年代後期，他們的特殊唱腔抒情歌曲如：（The Lights Went Out In）Massachusetts、Words、How Can You Mend A Broken Heart…，給當年的年輕歌迷留下難忘的印象，1970年代中期他們成功的轉型，為電影Saturday Night Fever「週末的狂熱」所唱主題曲：How Deep Is Your Love、Staying Alive、Night Fever…，替他們創下了事業的巔峰，在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜上，他們是第27名的超級合唱團。推薦一首我很喜歡的Bee Gees 1969年抒情曲Don’t Forget To Remember（雖然billboard排行榜上它只得到73名）！

前Beatles合唱團鼓手Ringo Starr 3月31日做了一件善事，他在洛杉磯Hard Rock Café餐廳與一位17歲腦癌患者短暫同台，並且送給這位年輕人一套鼓當獎勵，來自維吉尼亞州Arlington的這位青年告訴他父親與Ringo Starr夢中相遇，後來Make-A-Wish基金會幫他實現了夢想。 Ringo Starr在加入Beatles之前是Rory Storm And The Hurricanes合唱團的鼓手，1970年才開始有個人的唱片推出，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜也獲得第347名，他在Beatles合唱團時代曾主唱過幾首歌，其中名次最好的是1966年第2名的Yellow Submarine，1968年這首歌還成了Beatles的卡通電影主題曲。
