Peter, Paul & Mary的冠軍曲

長期與著名的民謠合唱團Peter, Paul & Mary合作的貝斯手Dick Kniss，元月25日在紐約Saugerties故居附近醫院去世（74歲），Dick也曾與John Denver合寫了1974年的冠軍曲"Sunshine On My Shoulders"。


Peter, Paul & Mary是於紐約格林威治村組成的民謠三重唱，三名團員是Peter Yarrow、 Paul Stookey 及Mary Travers，在整個1960年代他們唱了很多受歡迎的歌，後來在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜獲得第293名，他們的成名曲是1963年第2名的Puff The Magic Dragon，而名次最好的歌則是1969年的冠軍曲Leaving On A Jet Plane，這首歌也是John Denver於1966年所寫的，原名是歌中唱的一句話"Oh Babe I Hate to Go" ，但Denver的製作人 Milt Okun勸他改名Leaving On A Jet Plane，這首歌最後就由Peter, Paul & Mary唱紅。

Peter, Paul & Mary的女團員Mary Travers 已於2009年去世，Peter Yarrow和Paul Stookey則還個別在最喜歡的民歌圈表演。

Neil Young的名曲Heart Of Gold

加州San Carlos的一家保險公司告Neil Young的事元月17日已經起訴，Neil所有的一間公司把放置在那家保險公司倉儲設施的1959年林肯大陸型轎車換了一輛電動車，為了那輛車於2010年引起的火災，保險公司要求近50萬美元的賠償。


Neil Young 1945年出生於加拿大多倫多，是一位著名的歌手、作曲者與吉它手，早年加入底特律搖滾樂團the Mynah Birds，後來又當過the Mynah Birds隊友Rick James的合唱團主唱，1966年到洛杉磯之後組了Buffalo Springfield合唱團，1969年改以個人之名出唱片，他的樂隊叫Crazy Horse，1970-1971年他成為Crosby，Stills And Nash的一員（即Crosby，Stills ，Nash And Young ），多年來在搖滾樂界已是大老級人物。

Neil Young在排行榜上名次最好的歌是1972年的冠軍曲Heart Of Gold，這首歌由Linda Ronstdat與James Taylor唱背景和聲，是滾石雜誌歷年500大歌曲榜第297名的名曲，當年在台北也是非常受歡迎的歌。

熱愛R&B的白人Johnny Otis

曾經培育出"Big Mama" Thornton, Etta James, Hank Ballard, Johnny Ace and Little Richard等這些著名的R&B藝人的Johnny Otis，元月17日以90歲高齡於洛杉磯去世，儘管他熱愛黑人的R&B音樂，但他是擁有希臘血統的白人，而且選擇居住於黑人社區，早年的他在奧克蘭與洛杉磯一帶的樂隊當鼓手，後來組了自己的樂隊，從1948年到1969年曾經有18首R&B暢銷曲，包括"Double Crossing Blues" (#1-1950), "Cupid Boogie" (#1-1950) 和"Rockin' Blues" (#2-1951)，此外他寫了Etta James唱過的"Roll With Me Henry", Gladys Knight唱紅的"Every Beat Of My Heart" 與Fiestas and Sheiks唱過的 "So Fine"這些歌，Johnny在L.A開的夜店，和主持的廣播、電視節目，讓很多蓄勢待發的R&B新秀藝人受到了一般歌迷們的注意，尤其像Little Esther, the Robins (即後來成名的the Coasters), Sugar Pie DeSanto, Jackie Wilson, 和 Little Willie John更是其中佼佼者，而Johnny Otis的兒子Shuggie Otis也是一位受人注目的藝人。


Johnny Otis在歌壇表演多年之後，晚年曾在教會當過牧師，也做過眾議員Mervyn Dymally的辦公室副主管，一直到2006年他還持續在加州柏克萊的電台主持節目，播他喜歡的音樂，1994年Johnny Otis以製作人與作曲人的身份被選入搖滾樂名人堂。

Jimmy Castor 去世

以1972年暢銷曲"Troglodyte (Cave Man)"出名的Jimmy Castor Bunch合唱團的領隊Jimmy Castor 元月16日去世（69歲），Jimmy 去11月就因心臟病住院，而且做了心導管手術。


Jimmy Castor出生於紐約Bronx，是一位R＆B歌星、作曲、薩克斯風樂手及編曲人，當他讀高中的時候就為Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers 寫了一首 "I Promise To Remember" (#57-1956)，後來他加入了Frankie Lymon的哥哥Louis的Teen Chords合唱團，然後組了自己的樂隊，以"Hey, Leroy, Your Mama's Callin' You" (#31) 成名。

1972年Jimmy Castor Bunch合唱團終於以"Troglodyte (Cave Man)"這首歌進入Top10，得到排行榜第6名，之後他陸續推出過不少歌，其中名次較好的是1975年獲得16名的的"The Bertha Butt Boogie"。

1980年代Jimmy Castor有了自己的Long Distance唱片公司，1992年還曾在迷你電視劇集"The Jacksons: An American Dream"當中客串演出。

"Troglodyte (Cave Man)"是一首全曲以口語配節奏感很強背景音樂完成的歌，表現方式很特殊。

She was ready to crush him, but she began to like him. She said

(falsetto):

"I'll sock it to ya, Daddy". He said: "Wha?". She said (falsetto):

back then. I wouldn't lie to you. When she said (falsetto)

"I'll sock it to ya, Daddy" he said "Right on! Right on! Hotpants!

Hotpants! Ugh...ugh...ugh".

Black Sabbath主唱Ozzy Osbourne

Black Sabbath「黑色安息日」合唱團的吉他手Tony Iommi元月9日宣佈：他因早期淋巴瘤正在接受治療，該團也從洛杉磯前往倫敦與他一起工作。


Black Sabbath是一個來自倫敦的重金屬搖滾樂團，是搖滾樂史上非常重要的樂團之一，除了Tony Iommi之外，團員還有主唱Ozzy Osbourne、 貝斯手Terry”Geezer”Butler與鼓手William Ward，Ozzy Osbourne是一位驚世駭俗的搖滾歌手，曾經在演唱會中咬下活蝙蝠的頭而聲名大噪，1979年元月遭Black Sabbath開除，Ozzy Osbourne在Black Sabbath所開創的樂風，使他在流行歌壇有Godfather of Heavy Metal「重金屬搖滾教父」的稱號，也因為那種黑暗、悲觀的歌路，有人封他為Prince of Darkness「黑暗王子」。

Black Sabbath在排行榜上有二首暢銷曲：1970年的Paranoid獲得第61名，1972年的Iron Man獲得第52名，名次雖然不高，但都被收進搖滾樂名人堂。

Ozzy Osbourne個人則有一首Top 10的歌，即1989年與LIita Ford合唱的Close My Eyes Forever（LIita Ford是1970年代後期著名的女子搖滾樂團The Runaways的一員）。

John Fogerty唱電視節目主題歌

前Credence Clearwater Revival的團員John Fogerty替元月12日首播的福斯電視節目"The Finder,"「追蹤者」唱了主題歌，John也在節目裡客串演唱了CCR的名曲"Fortunate Son."。


John Fogerty1945年出生於加州Berkeley，是一位搖滾樂作曲者及歌手，能玩多種樂器，1959年就與他哥哥Tom Fogerty加入the Blue Vevelts合唱團，1964年該團改名the Golliwogs，然後於1967年改為Credence Clearwater Revival，這個搖滾樂團在1969年創事業的巔峰，唱出如Proud Mary、Green River等非常多受歡迎的歌，後來在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜獲得第184名。

Tom Fogerty於1971年離團單飛，後來於1990年死於呼吸器官衰竭（48歲），而John Fogerty則於1972年CCR解散後從事個人的歌唱事業，以the Blue Ridge Rangers合唱團之名出過唱片，他個人名次最好的歌是1984年第10名的The Old Man Down The Road。

"Fortunate Son."是Credence Clearwater Revival 1969年獲得過第14名的歌，名次雖不很好，但在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜獲得第99名，是他們進該排行榜三首歌名次最好的歌（另二首是1969年第2名的Bad Moon Rising與1970年第2名的Who’ll Stop The Rain這二首歌在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜分獲355及 188名），1960年代晚期越戰正在進行，"Fortunate Son."這首歌的歌詞很能反映美國普通年輕人的心聲。

二則Fleetwood Mac的消息

最近有二則有關Fleetwood Mac合唱團的消息，先是該團在英國發展時代的吉它手Bob Weston 元月3日在倫敦家中因胃出血去世，Bob曾於1972 到 1974年參與 Fleetwood Mac合唱團專輯"Penguin" 和"Mystery To Me"的錄製，後來因與Mick Fleetwood的太太有染而遭Mick開除，Bob Weston也曾與Long John Baldry 及 Bob Welch合作過。


另外， Fleetwood Mac的重要團員Stevie Nicks的母親Barbara則於12月28日在亞利桑那州因肺炎去世。

Fleetwood Mac合唱團是由Peter Green、Mick Fleetwood、John McVie三人在倫敦組團，但1974年轉往加州發展之後才開始走紅，Lindsey Buckingham與Stevie Nicks的加入更使他們實力大增，在排行榜上留下了很多受歡迎的歌，後來在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜獲得第102名。

Fleetwood Mac名次最好的歌是1977年的冠軍歌曲Dreams，在BMI全美最常播出百首歌曲榜這首歌得到第80名。

2012年開年的第一件喜訊就是靈魂歌后Aretha Franklin元旦宣佈將要結婚了，她與相識多年的朋友 William "Willie" Wilkerson “大概” 今年夏天在邁阿密完婚，Aretha Franklin現年69歲，這將是她第三次結婚。

另外，現已62歲Yes合唱團的鍵琴手Rick Wakeman 12月14日也悄悄的與37歲的女朋友結了婚，他們已相識8年。

Yes合唱團在英國倫敦組成，是1970-1980年代知名的前衛搖滾樂團，主唱是Jon Anderson，1971年因原鍵琴手Tony Kaye離團去參加Badfinger而由Rick Wakeman遞補鍵琴手的位子。

Ruby & the Romantics合唱團碩果僅存的團員Ron Mosely 12月3日去世（72歲），這個合唱團起初叫Skarletones，曾經在7年內有11首暢銷曲，包括"Our Day Will Come" (#1-1963), "My Summer Love" (#16-1963), 與"Hey There Lonely Boy" (#27-1963) ， "Hurting Each Other" (#113-1969)等。Ruby & the Romantics是在俄亥俄州組成的R＆B合唱團，成名曲是1963年的冠軍曲"Our Day Will Come"，"Hey There Lonely Boy"這首歌後來由Eddie Holman假聲演唱改名"Hey There Lonely Girl"，在1969年底獲得第2名，是一首非常動聽的經典情歌。
