Cher -Believe

  Cher請求釋放洛杉磯動物園大象Billy，"牠活在在痛苦中"。

  Cher 不只想在室內演說呼籲而已，她想救Billy 。

  老牌諧星、女藝人 Lily Tomlin 與「替動物發聲基金會」合作，呼籲洛杉磯動物園釋放住在他們園裡的大象Billy。

 

  Cher相信這動物很痛苦，她希望能將牠安全的轉交一個動物福利團體The Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)，牠在身心上都很痛苦，Cher告訴 People雜誌：牠百分80的時間都前後搖晃，這種刻板行為，就是沮喪的表現，野象是從沒發生這種現象的。

 

  Cher補充：Billy站在又小又硬的地板上，在野外牠應該每天在軟土地上走個一百英里去找食物，送到養護所後牠應有選擇。

  按照Cher的說法，Billy到養護所後會有15畝土地給牠漫步，現在只有3.6畝，牠會像同伴一樣用沙洗澡，從一堆美味繁茂的食物中挑牠愛吃的。

  洛杉磯動物園回信給 People雜誌說：Billy 現在被照顧得很好，(PAWS) 還沒有跟動物園聯絡，或要求給Billy一個家，儘管如此，動物園沒有將Billy 送到養護所的計劃。

  Cher 與 Tomlin九月7日仍將參加在加州Santa Monica舉辦的第三屆"Wait Wait … Don't Kill Me!"搞笑活動，幫「替動物發聲基金會」募款。

  2012年起每年八月12日被訂為世界大象日。

  Cher出生於1946年，現年73歲，影歌雙棲的她在排行榜上最後一首冠軍曲是1998年底的四週冠軍曲Believe，此曲亦獲得Grammy最佳舞曲唱片獎。
