  搖滾樂團The Animals吉他手Hilton Valentine去世(77歲)

  Hilton Valentine 是一位進入搖滾樂名人堂的知名吉他手。

  Animals的唱片公司ABKCO披露了這個消息。

  上週六的聲明中說 : 這個合唱團的團員從Hilton Valentine的太太Germaine得到他去世的消息，但她沒有說明死因。

  ABKCO 唱片公司在推特上聲明 : The Animals的創團吉他手Hilton Valentine是一位搖滾樂界的先進吉他手，他對後來幾個世代的搖滾樂有很大的影響。

  來自英格蘭的即興吉他手Hilton Valentine，是The Animals的創團吉他手，1966年Animals解散後，Valentine錄了幾張個人的專輯，包含All in Your Head (1969) 及 It's Folk 'N' Skiffle, Mate! (2004)，他也參加每一次Animals的重聚演唱會。

  Valentine 於1994年與該團其他團員一同進入搖滾樂名人堂，並於2001年進入好萊塢搖滾樂星光大道。

  搖滾樂團The Animals來自英格蘭Newcasstle-upon-Tyne，前身是the Alan Price Combo，主唱Eric Burdon，1964年The Animals以3週排行榜冠軍歌曲The House of the Rising Sun成名，這首歌在滾石雜誌歷年500大歌曲排行榜獲得第123名，主唱Eric Burdon說 :「我們想找一首吸引人注意的歌」，後來他們找到一首美國民歌House of the Rising Sun，並且放到1962年第一張專輯裡面。

  Bob Dylan曾唱過這首歌，描寫受困於南方妓院裡的一個女孩令人難過的故事。來自英格蘭生活艱苦煤礦城的Animals則把主角改成男孩，並加了電子琴伴奏，有一點爵士樂手Jimmy Smith名曲Walk on the Wild Side的味道。

  The House of the Rising Sun是一首搖滾樂的經典之作，除了主唱的歌聲外，吉他及電子琴的伴奏替全曲增色不少。
