Conway Twitty獲故鄉褒揚

已故鄉村歌星Conway Twitty最近獲得美國密西西比州一項殊榮，該州為表彰出生於密西西比於鄉村歌唱界有成就的鄉親們，特別規劃了Mississippi Country Music Trail「密西西比鄉村音樂路徑」，他們在特定的公路定點豎立歌星立牌，在牌上描述該歌星對鄉村歌唱界的貢獻，密西西比州以鄉村歌曲的發源地為榮，它也是Jimmie Rodgers，Tammy Wynette，Conway Twitty 與貓王 Elvis Presley這些名歌星的故鄉。

Conway Twitty的立牌 5月31日於他的出生地Friars Point揭幕。

Conway Twitty出生於1933年，本名Harold Lloyd Jenkins，1993年因血管疾病過世（59歲），Conway 10歲時就組了自己的合唱團the Phillips Country Ramblers，高中畢業時他曾經被費城人隊相中，差點當了職棒球員，但因被徵召去當兵而沒去成。

Conway Twitty一生從搖滾樂偶像歌星轉型成為鄉村歌曲巨星，自1968-1986年在鄉村歌曲排行榜一共唱出了40首排行榜冠軍曲，這個記錄直到2006年才被George Strait打破，1971-1976年Conway Twitty與「礦工的女兒」Loretta Lynn的搭擋二重唱曾經替他們贏得許多獎。

Conway Twitty佳作極多，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜中獲得第325名，他1975年與女兒Joni Lee合唱的Don’t Cry Joni是一首很可愛的情歌。

披頭George Harrison獨子完婚

已故Beatles合唱團吉它手George Harrison的獨子Dhani Harrison，上週末與他交往很久的女友Solveig “Sola” Karadottir結婚了，Dhani父親的Beatles合唱團伙伴Paul McCartney與Ringo Starr都參加了在泰晤士河畔豪宅舉行的婚禮，Paul McCartney的女兒Stella還幫新娘設計了禮服。


Dhani Harrison的新婚妻子Solveig的父親是冰島神經病理學者，目前是一家生技公司老闆。



Dhani的名字來自印度（發音同Danny），1960年代中期，George Harrison對印度文化產生很大的興趣，透過他讓西方人認識了席塔琴音樂，他的兒子取印度名並不令人意外，Dhani與父親感情很好，他們都很迷F-1賽車，Dhani曾與父親一同去世界各地參加賽車大賽。

2001年11月29日George Harrison不幸因喉癌去世後，Dhani與長輩前ELO與Traveling Wilburys合唱團的要角Jeff Lynne合作完成父親最後一張專輯Brainwashed，等於正式承襲了父親的職業歌唱生涯，並於2006年組了Thenewno2合唱團，演唱歌路屬另類搖滾。

Dhani曾告訴記者：別人以為身為有錢名人的小孩大概每天晚上到處趕場參加Party，其實他像父親一樣是一個熱愛工作的人，雖然歌迷們看到他的臉，聽到他的歌聲就會想到他的父親，但是沒關係，搞自己的音樂是很過癮的事。

Beatles 1966年的專輯Rubber Soul當中的Norwegian Wood(This Bird Has Flown) George Harrison曾用席塔琴伴奏，這首歌沒推出過單曲，但於滾石雜誌歷年500大歌曲榜獲得第83名，是一首很有名的歌。

Rolf Harris獲頒獎章

祝賀英國伊莉莎白女王生日，澳洲也於本月11日宣怖了發揮中世紀騎士精神the Order of Australia榮譽獎章得主，其一是1963 年唱紅Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport這首最有澳洲風味老歌的男歌手Rolf Harris，他本來已獲得過四級的Member of the Order of Australia，但是英國發的，這次將獲提名三級的Officer of the Order of Australia。


另一位1978年唱紅Love Is In The Air的男歌手John Paul Young也將獲得Officer of the Order of Australia獎章，他是因為從事慈善工作而獲獎。

Rolf Harris出生於澳洲伯斯，1950年代移民英國，在BBC做過電視節目，他用木板甩動發聲搭配演唱這首歌的表演，令人印象深刻。

澳洲歌手與合唱團在英、美排行榜成績很不錯，像Air Supply、Olivia Newton-John、Rick Springfield等的歌在台灣也很受歡迎。

「袋鼠歌」Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport於1963 年獲得過Billboard排行榜第3名。

二年前趁工作轉換空檔到一家電台開了一個西洋歌曲老歌的節目，三個月後因廣告不濟收場，我與負責廣告的老友最後的定調是『叫好不叫座』，那家電台的高層主管告訴我：他們的收聽對象定位在四十歲以下的年輕人，我的老歌節目不在他們的節目規劃當中，之後我找了二家北部大電台高層也持同樣論調，可是其中之一以自網路學來的無主持人全天播放西洋歌曲的頻道規劃得了金鐘獎，（我不知道評審怎麼評的？）廣告收入的現實面讓電台不從聽眾的角度去規劃節目，對我這樣一個資深媒体人而言並不忍苛責，但難道他們在節目中叫賣阿里山茶也只賣四十歲以下的年輕人嗎？其實我們的跨國廣告客戶覺得廣播廣告「無效」，那才是我們不能繼續節目的主要原因。


我剛出社會的時候廣播和電視二種工作同時兼著做，曾經二度有機會進入知名電台，且其中之一可以補缺取得公務員資格，但是我決定朝電視圈發展，把長輩的好意一一回拒了，只以業餘性質的方式主持了十年的音樂節目，現在回想起來偶有一絲遺憾，但並不後悔。

其實現在網路如此發達，從前不易聽到的歌與相關資訊很容易從網路搜索到，音樂網站還提供不同分類，對像我這樣的老歌迷而言真是太方便了，那節目停播後我持續每週二次在部落格寫老歌訊息，感謝朋友們的支持給我寫下去的動力。

最近應Ettoday老友陳世昌副總編輯之邀，每週新稿也轉於該網站「名家」與「國際」、「影劇」等欄發表，因擔憂著作權問題，我一直不放圖片及連結YouTube，在他們那裡也解決了，歡迎朋友們也前去觀賞指教。

今後仍會抽空維持每週寫二篇稿，但配合新聞時效性，不見得固定週三與週日寫，朋友們將可以看到最新的老歌資訊！

最近有新的工作開始忙，其實沒有時間去主持節目了，好在網路上發表文章搭YouTube，比廣播也差不了多少，挑一首Beatles沒進過排行榜的歌和你分享我最近的好心情吧！

Bob Welch自殺身亡

曾經一度加入過著名合唱團Fleetwood Mac的歌手Bob Welch，6 月7日下午被他太太發現死於田納西州納須維爾家中，很明顯的他是自殺身亡，65歲的Bob近年有健康問題的困擾。


Bob Welch自1971 年至 1975年是Fleetwood Mac的團員，出生於洛杉磯的他曾就讀U.C.L.A主修法文，但沒畢業而去組了The Seven Souls合唱團，那是一個黑白混合的團体，他們唱的I Still Love You在靈魂歌曲的市場留下一定的口碑，1969年The Seven Souls解散後Welch前去巴黎又組了Head West三重唱，但日子過得很悽慘，直到1971年受邀加入正要從藍調轉搖滾的英國合唱團Fleetwood Mac，日子才改觀。

Bob Welch離開Fleetwood Mac之後個人一共有五首暢銷曲，其中進入排行榜前十名的名曲是1977年第8名的Sentimental Lady，這首歌並邀請他於Fleetwood Mac時的伙伴Christine McVie 與 Lindsey Buckingham伴唱。

Fleetwood Mac合唱團1998年被選入搖滾樂名人堂時，Bob Welch並不在團員名單中。

The Platters 創始團員去世

The Platters 合唱團的最後一位創始團員低音歌手Herb Reed 六月4日於波士頓當地醫院不幸去世（83歲），Herb出生於堪薩斯市，1953年與另三名好友前往洛杉磯，先以黑膠唱片的俗稱當作團名組成了the Platters合唱團，接著開始在地方電視台節目獻唱，經過一連串團員的異動，他們於1955年終於在Mercury唱片公司推出了曾在Federal 唱片公司唱過的"Only You (And You Alone)"這首成名曲，這首獲得第5名的歌也是他們22首排行榜前40名暢銷曲當中的第一首，其它還有"My Prayer" ( 1956年五週冠軍曲), "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" ( 1959年單週冠軍曲), "The Great Pretender ( 1956年單週冠軍曲), "Twilight Time" ( 1958年單週冠軍曲), "(You've Got The) Magic Touch" ( 1956年第4名) 與"Harbor Lights" ( 1960獲得第8名)。


1961年the Platters合唱團的主唱Tony Williams離團而去，改由Sonny Turner擔任主唱，但這個異動使the Platters不再有排行榜前10名的暢銷曲，因為團員變動頻繁，後來出現很多冒牌的"Platters"，所幸Herb Reed始終合法擁有正牌團名使用權。

The Platters 合唱團是1950年代的冠軍演唱團体，在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜獲得第51名，並於1990年被推荐進入搖滾樂名人堂，1998年進入演唱團体名人堂，2009年則被選入暢銷曲雜誌名人堂。

The Platters眾多的美聲演唱歌曲是很多老歌迷們聽西洋歌曲的入門，由帶他們到Mercury唱片的經紀人Buck Ram與Andre Rand所寫的"Only You (And You Alone)"這首歌更帶給歌迷們永恆的回憶。

Procol Harum合唱團主唱重傷

來自南非開普敦的消息： Procol Harum合唱團的主唱 Gary Brooker 5月29日在旅館因跌倒而受到重傷，他被送到當地醫院，雖然頭蓋骨破裂，但經過治療後病情已穩定。


這場意外發生於67歲的Gary Brooker生日當天，這個跌倒也不得不延緩「英國搖滾入侵美國之旅」，因為Procol Harum與10cc 及 the Moody Blues三個1960年代在英、美及世界各地走紅的經典搖滾樂團原已排定檔期做全美巡迴演唱會，但是這個原訂七月開始的巡迴演唱是否取消還不確定。

Procol Harum合唱團是一個在英國組成的Classical Rock「古典搖滾」樂團，團員們除了主唱和各司吉它、鼓、鍵琴等不同樂器外，還有一位叫Keith Reid的團員負責寫歌詞，讓他們的歌詞內容不限於一般流行歌曲的情與愛…等的層次而已。

Procol Harum 1967年第5名的暢銷曲A Whiter Shade Of Pale是歌迷們耳熟能詳的搖滾樂經典歌曲，後來在滾石雜誌歷年500首最受歡迎歌曲排行獲得第57名，也被收進Grammy獎搖滾樂名人堂。
