1970年代中期走紅的搖滾樂團Orleans的吉他手與主唱Larry Hoppen，七月24日不幸在佛羅里達州中部的家中去世（61歲），出生於長島的的Larry後來住在紐約Ithica,，並且自Ithica學院畢業，他和Wells Kelly原先在一個叫Boffalongo的樂團認識，後來應John Hall之邀到紐約的Woodstock組成了Orleans合唱團。
經過一翻努力之後1975年Orleans終於以第三張專輯中的Let There Be Music開始讓歌迷們認識，接著的Dance With Me和Still The One更都進入排行榜前十名，
1977年Orleans的要角John Hall離團而去，Larry Hoppen則與他的弟弟Lance繼續撐住Orleans合唱團，他們在1977年還有一首獲得第11名的暢銷曲Love Takes Time，之後則持續巡迴演唱。
順便一提的是Orleans合唱團的創團元老John Hall當年離開Orleans除了去從事個人的歌唱事業外，也參加反核活動，沒想到他於2006年在紐約當選聯邦眾議員，但於2010年底落選。
Orleans在排行榜上名次最好的歌是1976年曾獲得第5名的歌Still The One，2004年美國總統大選時John Hall曾指控小布希未獲許可使用那首歌，使得小布希的競選總部不得不撤銷那首歌的使用，沒想到2008年John Hall又指控John McCain的競選團隊也未獲許可去使用那首歌。

Sonny Geraci 大病初癒
前Outsiders與Climax合唱團的主唱歌手Sonny Geraci最近有好消息，自去年四月開始他因動靜脈畸形動了二次腦部的手術，但最近健康狀況較好，他的女兒Bri Marie Geraci說他現在與家人在一起時有說有笑的，真是個快樂的老爸。

Bobby Rydell青春不再
1960年代前期的青春偶像歌手Bobby Rydell最近取消了澳洲的旅行演唱，因為上週他動手術換了肝和腎，七月18日才剛出院，醫師說如果不動這手術Bobby活不了多久。
七十歲的Bobby Rydell是歷年暢銷歌星排行榜第124名的知名歌手，1942年出生於費城，早年在Rocco＆His Saints合唱團當鼓手，這個合唱團的小喇叭手也是後來另一位受歡迎的青春偶像歌手Franky Avalon，1950年代後期至1960年代前期，除了Bobby Rydell與Franky Avalon之外還有Fabin與Cubby Checker等都是來自費城，受青少年歡迎的青春偶像歌手。

鄉村歌后Kitty Wells去世
有Queen of Country Music「鄉村歌后」美譽的女歌星Kitty Wells，，7月16日星期一早晨在家人陪伴下安詳的離開人世，享年92歲。
Kitty Wells，1919年出生於田納西州Nashville，是一位傳奇鄉村歌手、作曲人與吉它手，1952年至1979年有81首鄉村歌曲排行榜暢銷曲。
Kitty Wells於1937年與後來成為他先生的Johnnie Wright一同踏入歌壇，1952年以It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels這首歌成為第一位在鄉村歌曲排行榜獲得冠軍的女歌手。

Natalie Cole的母親去世
二十世紀中期著名的抒情歌星及電視節目主持人Nat "King" Cole的太太，亦即前年曾來台演唱的女歌星Natalie Cole的母親Maria Cole，7月10日週二因癌症去世，享年89歲，Maria在嫁給Nat "King" Cole之前是一位爵士歌手，曾經與Duke Ellington、Count Basie 與 Benny Carter這幾位爵士樂界名人的樂隊合作過。

Elton John獲頒波蘭勳章
Elton John七月九日在波蘭的演唱會中獲頒感謝勳章，Elton 1984年的時候即曾於波蘭公開誇讚團結工聯領袖華勒沙，這個舉動被認為對波蘭的共產政權當年秋天垮台有影響，華勒沙後來於1990年成為波蘭總統。
前幾年曾來台灣演出的Elton John脾氣不小，被台灣新聞界朋友取了一個有趣的外號叫「強叔」，其實他和George Michael是英國籍兩位最出名的同性戀流行歌手。

Cher動小手術
有唱片歌星、製作人、電視節目主持人、演員、導演及慈善家等多重身份的名人Cher，七月五日在推特告訴歌迷們她將動個小手術，Cher一年前不慎摔傷腳，這個手術將延後原訂年底的巡迴演唱。
Cher曾經於2005年結束她長達三年且空前成功的告別演唱會，但三年後於拉斯維加復出。
Cher 1936年出生於加州El Centro，原在製作人Phil Spector旗下唱和聲，1963年開始與大他11歲的Sonny Bono合作灌唱片並一同主持電視節目，最後並嫁給Sonny，但二人於1975年離婚，Sonny後來從政且當選加州選出的美國眾議員，1998年元月五日因滑雪意外於任上去世。
Cher在Sonny＆Cher合作的同時就以個人的名義推出唱片，且成績相當好，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜得到第58名，在Billboard雜誌排行榜的記錄裡，她是唯一在過去六十年中，每個十年都有冠軍歌曲的女歌星，而從1965年她與Sonny合唱的I Got You Babe到1998年的Believe這二首冠軍曲之間相隔33年的記錄也是無人能及的。
Cher於1980年代的電影事業也相當成功，她參加演出的Silkwood「絲克伍事件」得到金球獎最佳女配角，Mask「面具」得到坎城影展女主角獎，The Witches of Eastwick「紫屋魔戀」使他與 Jack Nicholson、Susan Sarandon等巨星同台，而終於因Moonstruck「月暈」那部有趣的電影獲得奧斯卡最佳女主角獎，Cher告別演唱會裡把她的電影精彩畫面剪成專輯與歌迷分享，畫面相當溫馨。

Cher曾經於2005年結束她長達三年且空前成功的告別演唱會，但三年後於拉斯維加復出。
Cher 1936年出生於加州El Centro，原在製作人Phil Spector旗下唱和聲，1963年開始與大他11歲的Sonny Bono合作灌唱片並一同主持電視節目，最後並嫁給Sonny，但二人於1975年離婚，Sonny後來從政且當選加州選出的美國眾議員，1998年元月五日因滑雪意外於任上去世。
Cher在Sonny＆Cher合作的同時就以個人的名義推出唱片，且成績相當好，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜得到第58名，在Billboard雜誌排行榜的記錄裡，她是唯一在過去六十年中，每個十年都有冠軍歌曲的女歌星，而從1965年她與Sonny合唱的I Got You Babe到1998年的Believe這二首冠軍曲之間相隔33年的記錄也是無人能及的。
Cher於1980年代的電影事業也相當成功，她參加演出的Silkwood「絲克伍事件」得到金球獎最佳女配角，Mask「面具」得到坎城影展女主角獎，The Witches of Eastwick「紫屋魔戀」使他與 Jack Nicholson、Susan Sarandon等巨星同台，而終於因Moonstruck「月暈」那部有趣的電影獲得奧斯卡最佳女主角獎，Cher告別演唱會裡把她的電影精彩畫面剪成專輯與歌迷分享，畫面相當溫馨。
Cher在排行榜上名次最好的歌就是1998年底連續4週的冠軍曲Believe，這首歌在全球創下千萬張銷售記錄，還獲得Grammy年度最佳舞曲獎，在她的告別演唱會裡空中飛人搭配演出的影音效果令人難忘。
