Roberta Flack 與Donnie Hathaway的暢銷曲"Where Is The Love"及 Grover Washington Jr. 與 Bill Withers的 "Just The Two Of Us"的共同作者Ralph McDonald 12月18日因肺癌不幸去世（67歲），Ralph也曾經在David Bowie的"Young Americans" 及Jimmy Buffett的"Margaritaville."這二首名曲玩打擊樂器。
Roberta Flack 22日應邀在Ralph McDonald的喪禮中演唱，她表示Ralph在她的一生佔很重要的地位，他是一位對所有音樂都懂也會玩的樂師。
Roberta Flack自幼就學鋼琴，15歲就得到華盛頓霍華德大學的藝術學位，後來在故鄉北卡羅萊納州當音樂老師，因為爵士樂手Les McCann的推薦於1969年與Atlantic唱片公司簽約踏入流行歌唱界，她的成名曲是1972年克林伊斯威特主演的電影Play Misty For Me「迷霧追魂」的插曲The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face，而1973年的Killing Me Softly With His Song這首歌使她踏上事業巔峰（BMI全美最常播出歌曲第11名），Roberta Flack後來在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲得第171名。
R＆B製作人、作曲、鍵琴手、歌手Donnie Hathaway是Roberta Flack霍華德大學的同學，1979年他於紐約跳樓自殺（33歲），他們倆合唱的"Where Is The Love"是1972年曾獲得第5名的歌。
