CW McCall-Convoy

1975年底CW McCall所唱的Convoy是一首novelty song「瞎掰歌曲｣。

這種歌通常套用當時發生的新聞事件，或者與節日、電視上爆紅的話題...相結合，有時候有一點搞笑的內容，但並非絕對，很多歌用搞怪的歌詞、主題、聲音或者樂器演奏來凸顯，甚至很少用音樂。

在十九世紀末流行音樂開拓期的Tin Pan Alley時代，novelty song與ballads 「歌謠｣及 dance music「舞曲｣是流行音樂的三大支柱。

CW McCall 本名 William Fries，1928年出生於愛阿華州Audubon，1980年代早期曾經競選過科羅拉多州Quray市的市長，CW McCall是替一個麵包公司廣告所構思出的名字，Fries當時是廣告代言人。

1973年石油危機發生後，美國有一個55公里限速規定影響了開車族，尤其影響大卡車的司機老大，他們利用可以短波對講的CB radio電台（類似火腿族）相互聯絡，給這個規定產生了很大的衝擊，也給1970年代中後期風行一時的CB radio所帶來的影響，留下了歷史的印記， CW McCall所唱的Convoy歌詞內容也即是源自這一事件。

1978年由Sam Peckinpah執導， Kris Kristofferson（星夢淚痕） 及Ali MacGraw（愛的故事）二位巨星主演同名的電影Convoy與暢銷曲二者並無直接關係，但劇情發想自 Convoy，也用之當插曲。

Convoy於1975年底推出後五週就獲得熱門排行榜冠軍，而在鄉村歌曲排行榜則獲得六週冠軍，在滾石雜誌所做的歷年100首最受歡迎的鄉村歌曲榜當中，Convoy也獲得第98名。

月初我介紹的The Chipmunks 1958年的The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)及1960年Brian Hyland 的Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini、1974年Ray Stevens 的The Streak、1976年Rick Dees and his Cast Of Idiots 的Disco Duck...，都在排行榜上獲得過冠軍、是novelty song「瞎掰歌曲｣的佼佼者。
