美國農民之友Willie Nelson

Willie Nelson 8月13日將被選入位於堪薩斯州Bonner Springs的農業名人堂，而當天舉辦的第26屆支援農民的Farm Aid 演唱會也在堪薩斯市附近進行，Willie Nelson在演唱會中也將被表揚。


Willie Nelson 1933年出生於德州Abbott，是一位多產的鄉村歌手與作曲者，曾寫過Patsy Cline的名曲Crazy，也幫Ray Price彈過貝斯，他有116首鄉村歌曲排行榜暢銷曲，與Waylon Jennings、Merle Haggard、Julio Iglesias合作的歌都曾獲頒最佳二重唱獎，他於西元2000年即獲頒葛萊美終生成就獎。

Willie Nelson在流行歌壇名次最好的歌是1982年獲得第5名的Always On My Mind，這首歌也是BMI全美最常播出的百首歌曲榜第60名，1988年Pet Shop Boys重唱這首歌名次更好，曾獲得第4名。

Willie Nelson在以流行歌曲榜名次統計出的歷年暢銷歌星排行榜也獲得第420名。

Jan and Dean與The Beach Boys合作無間

1963年的今天Jan and Dean的Surf City在排行榜上開始連續二週獲得冠軍，這首歌是由The Beach Boys的主唱Brian Wilson作曲，而且The Beach Boys還替Jan and Dean擔任伴唱。


Jan and Dean是1960年代初期流行的Surf-pop-rock「衝浪搖滾」合唱團，除了這首Surf City之外，1966年The Beach Boys在排行榜上獲得第2名的Barbara Ann則由Jan and Dean的Dean Torrence擔任主唱，這個二重唱另一名團員Jan Berry已於2004年因中風猝死（62歲）。

Jan and Dean在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲第178名，與Beach Boys的第19名差很多，但也在流行歌壇歷史留名。

Rocket Man叫太空人起床

美國太空梭亞特蘭提斯號現正在太空中出它的最後任務，此次航行自7月8日至7月21日一共13天，美國太空總署NASA有允許愛侶或好友為太空人挑選太空中的起床歌的傳統，而這次亞特蘭提斯號最後任務特別打破傳統選了一些特別的起床歌，以紀念30年工作告一段落。


任務第六天（7/13）他們選了Elton John的名曲Rocket Man，當年阿波羅16號第五次送人類登陸月球時，這首4分半長，描述離家出任務長時間於太空飛行的四名太空人複雜的心情的歌，曾被選為起床歌，後來發現者號與亞特蘭提斯號也用過此曲，而Rocket Man也是NASA前40名起床歌之一。

在一次為發現者號與奮進號最後任務所辦的票選起床歌活動時，Rocket Man得到過5000票，此次在亞特蘭提斯號最後任務中再度入選，也是這首歌作者的Elton John特別在歌曲後錄了一段旁白，除了祝福太空人任務成功之外，也感謝NASA的工作人員過去三十年為太空梭所付出的辛勞。

Rocket Man是Elton John 1972年獲得過第6名的歌，在滾石雜誌500大歌曲排行獲得242名。

the Grass Roots合唱團的主唱走了

the Grass Roots合唱團的主唱Rob Grill 7月11日因腦溢血去世（67歲），本月初時他太太曾宣告Rob因肺炎感染陷入昏迷。


Rob Grill 1944年出生於好萊塢，畢業於好萊塢高中，後來他在一家名叫American Recording Studios的錄音室工作，耳濡目染之餘希望他自己也有機會入行錄歌，當the 13th Floor合唱團主唱去當兵，他掌握住機會加入了這個合唱團。他們先幫P.F. Sloan 和Steve Barri工作 ，1967年以Rob Grill領軍主唱的the Grass Roots終於以一首Let's Live For Today(#8)成名，後來他們共有13首排行榜暢銷曲，包括"Midnight Confessions" (#5-1968), "Sooner Or Later" (#9-1971), "I'd Wait A Million Years" (#15-1969), "Temptation Eyes" (#15-1971) 和"Two Divided By Love" (#16-1971)，1975年the Grass Roots聲勢開始下滑，Rob Grill個人繼續唱了4年，在1982年還以the Grass Roots之名重出歌壇，但成績平平，Rob Grill曾因止痛藥問題被補 ，還動過髖關節置換手術，但他一直到去年才因健康不佳退出表演舞台。

夢幻搖滾樂團Led Zeppelin

2005年的今天（7/10）英國行星搖滾電台Planet Rock Radio有一份資料公佈，3500名聽眾票選Led Zeppelin為他們心目中的超級夢幻搖滾樂團，該團中的Jimmy Page當選最佳吉它手（（其次是Guns N' Roses的Slash（Saul “Slash” Hudson）和Deep Purple的Ritchie Blackmore）），John Paul Jones是最佳貝斯手，1980年去世的John Bonham是最佳鼓手，而Robert Plant則也擊敗已故的Queen合唱團主唱Freddie Mercury榮獲最佳主唱歌手。


這個資料雖然由英國搖滾樂迷投票選出，但這個結果很公正反應了Led Zeppelin在全球搖滾樂迷心目中的地位。

Led Zeppelin 1995年即進入搖滾樂名人堂，2005年則獲頒葛萊美終生成就獎，他們在Billboard雜誌排行榜上名次最好的歌是1969年第4名的Whole Lotta Love，這首歌在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜獲得第75名。

Lionel Richie因為喉嚨不舒服而取消了7月4日美國國慶當天與the Boston Pops Orchestra的一同演出。

The Grass Roots合唱團主唱歌手Rob Grill的太太Nancy Grill 7月1日發佈一份聲明，文稿中顯示Rob狀況不妙，三週前小腦中風的他，命運操在上帝的手中，她請歌迷們為他禱告，Rob Grill 1944年11月30日出生，今年67歲。


The Grass Roots於加州洛杉磯組成，是一個Pop-Rock合唱團，暢銷曲不少，是歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜獲得第259名的1960年代後期知名團体，他們在排行榜上名次最好的歌是1968年曾獲得第5名的Midnight Confessions。
