今年MLB美國職棒世界大賽決賽第二場10月27日在舊金山巨人隊的主場舉行，主辦單位請到了老歌星Tony Bennett在第七局中間演唱"God Bless America"，Tony Bennett 1926年於紐約Queens出生，是過去60年來最傑出的爵士歌手之一，1949年在Bob Hope的建議下，他將藝名由Joe Bari改名Tony Bennett，從此在歌壇走好運，自1951-1954年他有四首當年非常受歡迎的歌：Because Of You、Cold,Cold Heart、Rags To Riches、Stranger In Paradise，搖滾樂紀元的1955年後他的作品也非常多，是歷年暢銷歌星排行榜第197名的上一世紀中期知名流行歌手。
Tony Bennett最受歡迎的暢銷曲，1962年曾得過第19名的I Left My Heart In San Francisco，是Grammy獎年度歌曲，也被收進名人堂中，而2001年Tony Bennett獲頒Grammy終生成就獎，Billboard雜誌則於2006年選他為世紀歌星。

The Four Tops碩果僅存一團員
10月18日，已故的Four Tops合唱團團員Renaldo "Obie" Benson的女兒，在密西根州的維恩郡告惟一尚存的Four Tops團員Duke Fakir，她認為Duke沒有盡力去收回該給[Four Tops, LLC] 公司的25,000美元賬款，希望公司能解決。

B.J. Thomas為德州遊騎兵隊加油
今年MLB美國職棒世界大賽最後是由德州遊騎兵隊與舊金山巨人隊爭冠，因為王建民與郭泓志的關係，我比較喜歡看洋基、光芒、紅襪和道奇這些隊的比賽，主要是球員比較熟識，輸贏無所謂，欣賞球技優先啦！

Leif Garrett不良示範
1970年代後期的偶像歌手Leif Garrett，10月15日在洛杉磯法庭因持有海洛因案去申辯，他被判在十八個月內如能戒掉毒癮，這案子就可以銷掉，Leif Garrett是去年二月在洛杉磯的一個地鐵站被逮捕的。Leif Garrett係1961年於好萊塢出生，1977年他才15歲的時候，就以The Beachboys的surfin’ USA老歌新唱獲排行榜第20 名，後來也演過幾部電影，在Disco全盛的1970年代後期，他走1960年代早期的偶像歌手路線，後來陸續翻唱Dion的Rounaround Sue、The Wanderer和Paul Anka的Put Your Head On My Shoulder這些老歌，也曾令人印象深刻，它在排行榜上名次最好的一首歌是1978年獲得過第10名的I Was Made For Dancin’。

懷念的50年代老歌
2001年的10月17日詞曲作者Jay Livingston因肺炎去世，她寫的歌在1950年代被美國很多流行歌手所灌唱，其中Jay Livingston與Ray Evans所合作的由Doris Day桃樂絲黛所唱紅的那首Doris Day與James Stewart詹姆士史都華合演的電影The Man Who Knew Too Much「擒兇記」的插曲Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera），在1956年曾獲排行榜三週第二名，也是當年奧斯卡最佳電影插曲，影歌雙棲的桃樂絲黛自1948年開始即有暢銷歌曲如A Guy Is A Guy、Secret Love等，老歌迷與影迷們應該都很喜歡她。

蘇利文劇場的回憶
1974年10月13日，美國著名的電視節目主持人 Ed Sullivan去世，他所主持的「蘇利文劇場」節目在美國CBS電視聯播網每星期日晚上八時播出，從1948年6月20日一直播到1971年6月6日，Ed Sullivan 也是the Ed Sullivan Singers and Orchestra的領隊，他在從紐約播出的現場節目中推薦了The Beatles和其它許多英國歌星與合唱團体，而1964年2月9日The Beatles披頭合唱團在節目中的演出，被認為是the British Invasion英國搖滾樂入侵美國流行歌壇的里程碑，當天節目吸引了七千三百萬電視觀眾收視，很多1960年代初期走紅的美國偶像歌手都被以The Beatles為首的英國新樂風打趴，1960年代的台灣只有一家台視，也曾播過「蘇利文劇場」這個節目，給剛接觸西洋歌曲的我帶來過很多的回憶，1990年前後小耳朵風行，在日本NHK的節目中亦安排過「蘇利文劇場」較完整的系列性播出，2000年之後，Ed Sullivan TV show剪接後出版DVD，在台灣市面上都能買到，不過只有老歌而已，其它表演都不復見，挺可惜的，當然，像馬戲班表演、變魔術等這些幾十年前的東西實在也沒有市場價值，音樂倒是越陳越香的，搖滾樂在全世界始終有它死忠的欣賞族群，希望號稱播經典好音樂的電台別忽略他們。

Phil Spector的複雜人生
最近有消息報導Al Pacino將在HBO準備要拍的一部還沒有定名的電影中飾演Phil Spector。
Phil Spector是一位美國唱片製作人兼作曲，1960年代曾經首創集中大量電吉它和木吉它像交響樂團一樣的伴奏方法去錄搖滾樂與流行歌曲，取名Wall of Sound「聲牆」，在流行歌唱界很有成就，他也是1960年代早期唱片製作人錄女聲合唱團的鼻祖，當年他製作的唱片有25張進入排行榜前40 名，他甚至近水樓台的娶了The Ronettes黑人女聲合唱團的Veronica Bennett（1968-1974），The Ronettes的Be My Baby在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜上是第22名的一首非常好聽的抒情曲，搖滾樂手Eddie Money 1986年第4名的Take Me Home Tonight曾特別情商Ronnie Spector拔刀相助唱Be My Baby的片段穿插其中，使那首歌增色不少。
1960年代中期，成名後的Phil Spector幫披頭The Beatles、The Ramones和Ike And Tina Turner這些大牌合唱團與歌手工作，像Beatles的專輯唱片Let It Be、前Beatles團員George Harrison的Concert For Bangladesh即出自其手，優越的專業表現使Phil Spector於1989年以非歌手的身份被選入搖滾樂名人堂。
另外，The Righteous Brothers1965年的名曲You’Ve Lost That Loving Feeling也是他製作且合寫的歌，這首在電影Top Gun「捍衛戰士」當中很重要的一首插曲，是版稅組織BMI所統計全美電台最常播出歌曲的冠軍曲。
不幸的是，2003年女演員Lana Clarkson死於Phil Spector位於加州Alhambra的家中，2009年Phil Spector以二級謀殺罪被重判有期徒刑19年。

電影Five Easy Pieces「浪蕩子」與歌
1978年10月4日鄉村歌星Tammy Wynette遭到綁架，她在車裡被一名戴上滑雪帽的持槍歹徒毆打，這名歹徒強迫Tammy Wynette從田納西州的納許維爾開了90英里遠，然後放了她並逃跑，這真是一場惡夢。

Eddie Fisher與Oh My Pa Pa
老歌星Eddie Fisher九月22日去世（82歲），在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜上他是第312名的歌手，在1950年代排名則是第26名，在搖滾樂還沒有開始流行的1940年代後期到1950年代早期，Eddie Fisher有36首排行榜暢銷曲（1948-1954），其中包括三首排行榜冠軍曲Oh My Papa、I’m Walking Behind You與wish You Were Here和獲第二名的Any Time， Eddie Fisher曾經和Debbie Reynolds, Connie Stevens 與 Elizabeth Taylor結過婚，Debbie Reynolds是一位名演員與歌星，她的Tammy是一首1957年她自己主演的的五週冠軍電影插曲，她與Eddie Fisher的女兒Carrie Fisher因演電影「星際大戰」當中的莉亞公主而知名，也是一位暢銷作家。Connie Stevens也是一位、視、歌三棲的名人，她在排行榜上名次最好的歌是1960年第三名的Sixsteen Reasons，她與Eddie Fisher的女兒Tricia Leigh Fisher與Joely Fisher也走她們父母親一樣的演藝之路。
