一位伊利諾州的男子聲稱Elton John 1985年推出的的暢銷曲"Nikita,"抄襲自他早三年之前寫的歌，並向聯邦法庭提起訴訟，其實這首歌的歌詞是Elton John的老搭擋Bernie Taupin寫的，Elton John的發言人表示此事毫無根據，這人等了26年才提提告，原因竟然是1984年他搬到非洲去了。
"Nikita,"是1986年得過第7名的歌，背景合聲是George Michael。
Elton John是歷年暢銷歌星排行榜第3名的天王巨星，來過台北的搖滾樂手以他最有名，在足球場的演唱雖偶有飛機聲干擾，但傳神的歌聲令人難忘，脾氣很大的Elton還被媒体取個頗有趣的外號「強叔」，Elton John如果有機會再來台北，還值得再去聽。
