前衛搖滾Emerson, Lake & Palmer

前衛搖滾Emerson, Lake & Palmer鋼琴手Keith Emerson三月十日在加州Santa Monica去世 (71歲)，他的死因是槍殺，但警方調查後認定是自殺。

Keith Emerson出生於英格蘭約克夏的Todmorden，受過古典樂的教育，1967年組成The Nice 合唱團之前曾在四個當地樂團工作過，1969年Keith與主唱、吉他手King Crimson的 Greg Lake，和鼓手Atomic Rooster與Crazy World of Athur Brown 的Carl Palmer組成ELP (Emerson, Lake & Palmer)，接著和Atlantic唱片公司簽了約 。

1970 至1992年Emerson, Lake & Palmer成績斐然，獲得十張金唱片，雖然他們以專輯唱片起家，但也有四首歌進入熱門排行榜，其中"Lucky Man" (#48-1971 and #51-1972) 與 "From The Beginning" (#39-1972)名次算較好的。

Emerson, Lake & Palmer於1979年解散，但是Keith 與 Greg加上Cozy Powell之後重組該團，2002 年Keith 並與重組的The Nice 合唱團曾巡迴演唱，他取名自ELP一張專輯的自傳"Pictures of an Exhibitionist"則於2004年出版。

前衛搖滾Progressive rock是1960年代中期從英國發展出的一種搖滾樂，在義大利、德國和法國都有歌迷喜好，與迷幻搖滾密不可分的前衛搖滾，捨棄較短的流行單曲表現方式，從作曲和樂器演奏部份去發揮，試圖加入古典音樂和爵士樂的連結，去提升搖滾樂的水準，期盼讓一般人尊敬。
