George Michael With Elton John-Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me

     George Michael 於1991年開啟了他的“翻唱”巡演。儘管他演唱了自己的一些熱門歌曲，例如〈Careless Whisper〉和〈Faith〉，以及達比的〈Sign Your Name〉。在一部紀錄片中，喬治談到了他為何喜歡演唱別人的熱門歌曲：「演唱別人創作的歌曲最大的吸引力之一在於，它不帶任何個人色彩。在演出過程中，我可以暫時放下自我，告訴自己：‘好了，這是樂器，我要盡我所能地運用它。’」

  「音域對我來說非常重要。這也是我翻唱這麼多Stevie Wonder歌曲的重要原因。我曾經在不同的演出中翻唱過四五首他的歌。除了我認為他是一位才華橫溢的詞曲作家之外……他（在70年代）創作的曲風非常適合我的嗓音，而且不知怎的，我真的能在現場演繹一些他的歌曲時展現出一些特別的東西。

     George 的另一個翻唱靈感來源是他的朋友艾爾頓強。小時候，George 就熱衷於收集Elton的專輯。他和Wham 的搭檔Andrew Ridgeley 之間的友誼最初是在兩位同學發現他們都擁有並喜愛Elton的雙專輯《Goodbye Yellow Brick Road》之後建立起來的。

     1991年3月，George 在溫布利體育場進行「Cover to Cover」巡迴演唱會時，Elton John在後台給了他一個驚喜。兩人決定即興合唱一首〈Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me〉，這首歌喬治曾在1988年7月的“拯救生命”（Live Aid）演唱會上演唱過，並且當時已經列入了他的演出歌單。這首歌最初收錄在Elton 1974年的專輯《Caribou》中。Elton曾表示，這首歌是他最喜歡的三首創作歌曲之一，並提到這首歌受到了Beach Boys樂團的〈God Only Knows〉和〈Good Vibrations〉的影響。 

    溫布利演唱會上的〈Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me〉錄音作為單曲發行；1991年12月7日當週，這首歌進入Billboard Hot100單曲榜，排名第72位。八週後，它登上了榜首，

    當Elton從後台走出來時，現場沸騰了。 這首單曲的收益捐給了十個不同的慈善機構，分別用於兒童、愛滋病和教育領域。
