本名Sylvia Kirby Allen的Sylvia 1957年生於Sylvia印第安納州 Basilkomo,青少年時期，因用鉛筆描繪印第安納州納什維爾小奧普里音樂廳演出的鄉村音樂明星而小有名氣。高中畢業時，Sylvia就確定自己也想成為鄉村音樂女王。 年，Sylvia手捧清唱磁帶，前往納許維爾，一心想成為明星——但就像每年湧向音樂城的眾多渴望成為 （Lorretta Lynns）和 （Dolly Parton）的歌手一樣，Sylvia不得不接受一份不那麼光鮮亮麗的文職工作。幸運的是，他的老闆是 （Tom Collins），當時他正在製作 （Charlie Pride）和 （Barbara Mandrell）的作品。Sylvia說服柯林斯讓她製作樣帶，並為 （Ronnie Milsap）和 （Dave & Sugar）擔任伴唱。最終，在 1979 年夏天，RCA 簽下了她作為獨唱藝人，她的首張專輯《You Don’t MissA Thing》登上了 C & W鄉村歌曲排行榜，成為眾多後續單曲之一。儘管 〈Nobody〉 是他唯一的流行/搖滾熱門歌曲，但 Syivia 作為鄉村歌手繼續取得成功。
