Vanessa Willams是1983年第一位非裔黑人美國小姐，但因閣樓雜誌的一項報導後來被取消資格，Vanessa Willams來自紐約Bronx，是一位R＆B歌手與演員，1988-1996年她在歌壇成績不錯，是暢銷歌星榜第349名的歌手，她所唱的Color of The Wind，是迪士尼卡通電影「風中奇緣」Pocahontas的插曲，劇情描述一位印第安公主Pocahontas的傳奇故事，獲得當年奧斯卡最佳電影歌曲獎。
