黑人鄉村歌手Charly Pride

有不少歌手曾講過，當別人在那邊講不知道甚麼歌會賣得好之時，他們知道自己已經錄了一首暢銷曲。

按照Charly Pride的說法，1971年的冠軍曲Kiss An Angel Good Morning對他而言是一個意外。

Charly Pride說:我對我錄的歌完全沒有概念，我也不覺得那一首歌會暢銷，只是剛錄好的時候覺得很喜歡那一首歌。

Ben Peters寫了Kiss An Angel Good Morning，Charly Pride聽了之後覺得很喜歡，想進錄音室錄下來，但他真的沒期待那一首歌後來會得排行榜冠軍。

Charly Pride的單曲Kiss An Angel Good Morning於1971年10月23日進鄉村歌曲排行榜，獲得五周冠軍。

Kiss An Angel Good Morning在流行歌曲排行榜則獲得第21名，並獲得Grammy鄉村歌曲獎。

Charly Pride出生於密西西比州Sledge，是最成功的黑人鄉村歌星，有29首歌獲得鄉村歌曲排行榜冠軍。

Ringo Starr做曾祖父了

前The Beatles披頭合唱團的鼓手Ringo Starr做曾祖父了，八月14日他的孫女Tatia Starkey 生了兒子Stone Zakomo Low，Tatia是Zak的女兒，她在一個叫Belakiss的合唱團擔任貝斯手與主唱，而她爸爸Zak目前在The Who這個當年和The Beatles齊名的合唱團當鼓手。

Ringo Starr 1940年出生於英國利物浦Dingle，早先在Rory Storm and Hurricanes合唱團擔任鼓手，1962年加入了The Beatles披頭合唱團，披頭解散後1970年Ringo 開始個人的演唱生涯，曾經參加過一些電影及電視節目的演出，包括披頭老隊友Paul McCartney的電影Give My Regards To Broad Street及美國公共電視 PBS的Shining Time Station，他的太太是影星Barbara Bach。

Ringo Starr約請過很多超級歌手組The All Star Band 去巡迴演唱，個人也出過很多唱片，其中名次最好的歌是老隊友George Harrison和聲並用12弦吉他伴奏的冠軍曲Photograph，另外一首冠軍曲則由Nilsson(Without You的主唱)和聲，Paul McCartney用卡組笛伴奏的You’re Sixteen。

Ringo Starr在The Beatles的時代亦曾經主唱過幾首歌，包括Yellow Submarine、With A Little Help From My Friends、Act Naturally等。

他個人在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲得第347名。

Dean Martin的小兒子也去世

上一世紀娛樂界名人，影星與歌星Dean Martin的小兒子Ricci Martin八月三日在猶他州家中因不明原因意外身亡(62歲)，Ricci 曾經於九零年代Dino, Desi & Billy合唱團復出歌壇時，代替他哥哥Dino Martin演出, Dino於1987年服國民兵勤務時因飛機失事喪生(35歲)。

Ricci Martin和the Beach Boys的主要團員Carl Wilson在七零年代時曾經一起製作過一張專輯唱片，最近還在一齣向他父親致敬的節目中演出，他寫的書"That's Amore"(取自Dean Martin名曲歌名)在2002出版。

Dino, Desi & Billy是二位演藝圈名人的小孩所組的合唱團，Dino是Dean Martin之子，Desi是諧星露西鮑兒之子，Billy則是他們在比佛利的高中同學，Dino和女星奧莉薇荷西及奧運滑雪選手Dorothy Hamill先後結過婚，在演藝界前途看好，可惜英年早逝。

Dino, Desi & Billy於1965年推出的I’m A Fool獲得過第17名，是他們在排行榜上名次最好的歌。

SPIRAL STARECASE 主唱去世

The Spiral Starecase的主唱與吉它手Pat Upton七月27日去世(75歲)，他去世之前已長期為病魔所苦。

Pat Upton出生於阿拉巴馬州Geraldine，當年在空軍服役的時候，曾在加州Sacramento和四位同僚參加過一個才藝競賽，退伍後他們取名the Fydallions，在當地歌唱界表現得到Columbia唱片公司的青睞，於是找他們簽約，但是條件就是要改團名，他們參考一部老電影的片名"The Spiral Staircase"，改團為the Spiral Starecase。

有一回Pat Upton在拉斯維加的一家旅館房間裡回味著Bobby Goldsboro的歌，突然福至心靈的寫了"More Today Than Yesterday"這首1969年獲得12名的暢銷曲，後來他們還有幾首歌如"Baby What I Mean" (#111-1968)、"No One For Me To Turn To" (#52-1969) 及 "She's Ready" (#72-1970)，但是名次都不好。

1970年the Spiral Starecase因團員不合而宣告解散，Pat Upton改幫Rick Nelson當伴奏吉他手，然後回阿拉巴馬州的Guntersville開一家俱樂部當老闆，這家俱樂部也是Rick Nelson因飛機失事喪命前最後演出的地方。

演奏曲成名的Booker T. & the MG’s

R&B樂團Booker T. & the MG’s的原始團員貝斯手Lewie Steinberg七月21日去世(82歲)，他已經有好一段時間為癌症所苦。

Booker T. & the MG’s是一個黑白混和的R&B演奏樂團，MG意思是Memphis Group，他們早年因為在Memphis的錄音室替Stax唱片公司的藝人伴奏而組團，主要團員有主鍵琴手Booker T.Jones，吉他手Steve Cropper，貝斯手Donald “Duck”Dunn及鼓手Al Jackson，Lewie Steinberg是於1965年被Donald “Duck”Dunn所取代，但是1992年他還是與其他隊友一起被選進搖滾樂名人堂。

Booker T.Jones是Earth，Wind，&Fire的主唱Maurice White的同學，他倆曾一起組過樂隊，Booker T.Jones有印第安納大學音樂學位，他也是Rita Coolidge的姊夫，所以幫Rita製作過唱片，也幫Bill Withers、Willie Nelson製作唱片。

Booker T. & the MG’s於1971年解散，他們在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜獲得第447名，2007年獲得Grammy 終身成就獎，Booker T. & the MG’s在排行榜上名次最好的演奏曲是1962年獲得過第三名的成名曲Green Onions，此曲在滾石雜誌五百大歌曲榜獲得第181名。

歌壇的Alley Oop

籃球轉播常聽到 "Alley Oop” 這個名詞，球迷都知道意思是空中接吊球第一時間投籃，其實在熱門歌壇”Alley Oop”是曾得過排行榜冠軍的暢銷曲。

本名Larry Wayne Stevens的 Gary S. Paxton 七月16日病逝 (77歲)，他1990年開始即為C型肝炎所苦，Gary S. Paxton其實是 "Alley Oop”這一首歌的單人演唱者和共同製作人，後來他用Hollywood Argyles合唱團的名字，這首歌讓他成名。之前他是Skip and Flip二重唱的一員，曾經有暢銷曲"It Was I" (#11-1959) 及 "Cherry Pie" (#11-1960)。

Gary S. Paxton出生於肯薩斯州Coffeyville，在亞利桑那州長大，14歲時就組過一個樂隊，後來乾脆輟學去當歌手，他在鳳凰城加入Clyde "Skip" Battin沒多久又搬到好萊塢，他製作了 Bobby "Boris" Pickett的"The Monster Mash" ，the Association的"Along Comes Mary" 及"Cherish" 還有Tommy Roe的"Sweet Pea" 及 "Hooray For Hazel" 這些知名的暢銷曲。

Gary S. Paxton後來又搬到加州Bakersfield去搞鄉村歌曲，他被一位他曾協助製作歌曲的藝人所雇的槍手槍擊三次，有二次差一點在手術台死去。他因而離開音樂圈，近八年後，才回頭製作與演唱福音歌曲。

Gary S. Paxton 以1975年的一張專輯獲得Grammy最佳福音歌曲演唱獎，1999年他獲選進入鄉村鄉村福音歌曲名人堂。

Sukiyaki作詞者去世

 曾經風靡全球的流行歌曲"Sukiyaki"的作詞者Rokusuke Ei永六輔(作曲Hachidai Nakamura)，七月七日病逝 (83歲)。

Kyu Sakamoto演唱的"Sukiyaki"於1961年推出，1963年獲得美國流行歌曲排行榜三週冠軍，在70多個國家賣了上千萬張唱片。

多才多藝的Rokusuke Ei永六輔本名Takao Ei，曾製作並主持廣播及電視節目，也寫過書。

1967年他在TBS Radio 主持廣播節目“Dokoka Toku e”｢遙遠的地方｣，後來改名“Ei Rokusuke no Dareka to Dokoka de”｢別的地方之別人｣。

1991年之後的二十四年半，他在同一電台主持“Doyo Wide Radio TOKYO Ei Rokusuke Sono Shinsekai”｢永六輔周末新世界｣

Rokusuke Ei與 Hachidai Nakamura詞曲搭檔，於1963年曾寫過另一首“Konnichiwa Akachan” (Hello baby)。

“Sukiyaki”與“Hello baby”最早都在(NHK)的“Yume de Aimasho” (Let’s meet in a dream)節目中首播。

Rokusuke Ei永六輔同時也是成功的作家，他1994年的“Daiojo” (Die peacefully)探討病與死，是一本暢銷書。

唱紅"Sukiyaki" 的Kyu Sakamoto則於1985年因飛機失事墜毀而命喪日本(43歲)。
