1960年代中期來自洛杉磯的一個迷幻搖滾樂團Music Machine的主唱與吉它手Sean Bonniwell 12月24日去世（71歲），Sean原名Thomas Harvey Bonniwell起先唱民歌， 1965年因民歌式微而組了The Ragamuffins合唱團改唱搖滾樂，他們先因穿黑衣單手帶手套的造型讓人留下印象，接著在1966年底推出的"Talk Talk,"獲得排行榜15名，使他們嚐到成功的滋味。
Music Machine之後推出的"The People in Me" 與 "Double Yellow Line"二首單曲成績都未能進排行榜前60名。


1996年Sean Bonniwell曾出自傳，書名先叫"Talk Talk"，然後改名"Beyond The Garage"，像Music Machine這種幾個高中生因崇拜Bob Dylan與The Beatles，在鄉間車庫練出來的Garage Band，在歌壇也有不少成名的例子，由於Punk龐克音樂在1970年代才興起，Music Machine的音樂有樂評人歸類為Garage Punk（地下、非主流、極簡搖滾）。

R＆B音樂人Ralph McDonald去世

Roberta Flack 與Donnie Hathaway的暢銷曲"Where Is The Love"及 Grover Washington Jr. 與 Bill Withers的 "Just The Two Of Us"的共同作者Ralph McDonald 12月18日因肺癌不幸去世（67歲），Ralph也曾經在David Bowie的"Young Americans" 及Jimmy Buffett的"Margaritaville."這二首名曲玩打擊樂器。


Roberta Flack 22日應邀在Ralph McDonald的喪禮中演唱，她表示Ralph在她的一生佔很重要的地位，他是一位對所有音樂都懂也會玩的樂師。

Roberta Flack自幼就學鋼琴，15歲就得到華盛頓霍華德大學的藝術學位，後來在故鄉北卡羅萊納州當音樂老師，因為爵士樂手Les McCann的推薦於1969年與Atlantic唱片公司簽約踏入流行歌唱界，她的成名曲是1972年克林伊斯威特主演的電影Play Misty For Me「迷霧追魂」的插曲The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face，而1973年的Killing Me Softly With His Song這首歌使她踏上事業巔峰（BMI全美最常播出歌曲第11名），Roberta Flack後來在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲得第171名。

R＆B製作人、作曲、鍵琴手、歌手Donnie Hathaway是Roberta Flack霍華德大學的同學，1979年他於紐約跳樓自殺（33歲），他們倆合唱的"Where Is The Love"是1972年曾獲得第5名的歌。

Etta James重病

1960年代知名的R＆B “節奏與藍調”女歌手Etta James因白血病和老年癡呆症病情嚴重已經花了三十多萬美金，12月20日她的先生和兒子在法庭達成協議，由結婚32年的先生繼續照顧他老婆，並且處理Etta的資產。


Etta James係於1938年出生於洛杉磯外號「桃姐」，因為她1955年的成名曲，後來得到靈魂歌曲榜四週冠軍的The Wallflower，是以Etta James and “The Peaches”之名推出而得名，Etta是一位對開創R＆B音樂有貢獻的歌手，早年曾與The Moonglows合唱團主唱Harvey Fuqua組成Etta＆Harvey二重唱，但因吸毒而於1970年代後期消失於歌壇。

Etta James沒有Top10的歌，但暢銷曲其實很多，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲得第112名，2003年並得到Grammy終生成就獎。

Etta James 在排行榜上名次最好的歌是1967年第23名的Tell Mama，這首歌也被收進搖滾樂名人堂。

搖滾樂團Troggs 主唱中風

英國搖滾樂團Troggs 的主唱歌手 Reg Presley 12月14日在英格蘭Winchester因中風和肺炎住院 ，Reg Presley現年已七十歲，一年前他曾中風過，他太太說這次Reg開始感到不舒服是12月3日在德國演唱的時候，而且越來越嚴重。


The Troggs是於英格蘭Andover組成的1960年代知名的搖滾樂團，成名曲是1966年2週冠軍曲Wild Thing，這首歌後來被收進搖滾樂名人堂，也是滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜第257名的名曲，他們的Love Is All Around及With A Girl Like You也都很受歌迷們歡迎。

紐西蘭最流行的歌"Ten Guitars"

紐西蘭最近把Engelbert Humperdinck的 "Ten Guitars"這首歌當作以數字為主題的郵票之一，這首歌是1967年暢銷曲"Please Release Me"反面的歌，但是在紐西蘭特別流行，曾經一度有歌迷呼籲以這首歌當紐西蘭國歌。


Engelbert Humperdinck 1936年出生於印度的Mardras，本名Arnold Dorsey，但在英格蘭Leicester長大，1958年開始灌唱片，1965年遇到Tom Jones的經紀人Gordon Mills，在他的建議後改名Engelbert Humperdinck（這原是德國一位著名的歌劇作曲家的名字），1967-1971年Engelbert有連續11首歌獲得Adult Contemporay抒情歌曲排行榜前10名的佳績。

後來以Release Me（And Let Me Love Again）之名在美國推出的這首歌是Engelbert Humperdinck 1967年第4名的成名曲，Ten Guitars是45轉小唱片反面的歌，作者就是Gordon Mills。

Engelbert Humperdinck在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲得第307名。

民謠合唱團The Highwaymen

1960年代早期的知名民謠合唱團the Highwaymen的團員Bob Burnett，12月7日在他的故鄉羅德島州East Providence不幸因病去世（71歲），the Highwaymen另外四名團員是Dave Fisher, Steve Trott, Chan Daniels 與 Steve Butts，其中Daniels 1975年時即因肺炎早逝（35歲），這個合唱團組成的時候叫the Clansmen，後來改名the Highwaymen 則取材自Alfred Noyes的詩歌。


The Highwaymen自校園演唱出發，二年後前往紐約發展，他們第一張唱片主打歌是講加州淘金熱的"Santiano,"，反面的歌是"Michael (Row The Boat Ashore)"，在民謠盛行的當年這張唱片在排行榜奮力往上爬，直到麻薩諸塞州Worchester的一位電台DJ在夏季不斷推薦"Michael (Row The Boat Ashore)"，反而使唱片背面的這首經典民謠登上了排行榜冠軍寶座（1961年）。

1962年他們接著推出的"Cotton Fields"獲得了第13名 ，反面的"The Gypsy Rover" 也獲得第42名。

由於他們堅持不放棄校園演出，每逢週末還要回去表演，因此影響了他們在唱片圈的成就，1962年接著推出的"I'm On My Way" 只得到第90名，而後來得第64名的 "The Bird Man"則是the Highwaymen最後一首進排行榜的歌。

Dobie Gray去世

1973年以"Drift Away"一曲成名的黑人歌手、作曲者Dobie Gray 12月6日去世（71歲），本名Lawrence Darrow Brown的他1940年出生於德州Brookshire，1960年代初期搬到洛杉磯，因為Sonny Bono的幫助，Dobie Gray開始幫Stripe唱片公司錄歌，1963年底就灌了七張單曲唱片，1965年他的"The 'In Crowd'"終於讓他初嚐成功滋味，但之後在歌壇乏善可陳，他花了二年多的時間參加了洛杉磯當地製作的搖滾樂劇Hair「毛髮」的演出，一直到1972年他才以"Drift Away"那首歌重回暢銷榜，1979年的"You Can Do It"是他最後一首Top40的歌，1980年代他有4首鄉村歌曲排行榜暢銷曲。


"Drift Away"於1973年曾獲排行榜第5名，2003年時UNCLE KRACKER Fewaturing Dobie Gray重新灌唱這首歌，獲得排行榜第9名。

雷鬼大師Bob Marley的名曲

1976年12月3日，Bob Marley的太太Rita和經紀人Don Taylor，在牙買加Kingston家中遭到七個槍手襲擊而受傷，這個本來要攻擊Bob Marley 的行動被認為與政治有關。


Bob Marley 1945年出生於在牙買加Rhoden Hall，是一位傳奇reggae雷鬼音樂吉它手、歌手與作曲人，1981年5月11日因癌症去世（36歲），他被譽為第三世界的超級巨星，也是最有領袖性格與挑戰性的一代歌手，因為Bob Marley＆The Wailers的歌聲受到注目，也幫助了牙買加的ska音樂 與近代雷鬼音樂成長。

Bob Marley 1994年即獲選進搖滾樂名人堂，2001年更獲Grammy終生成就獎，他在排行榜上沒有Top 40的歌，但無損於他在歌唱界的成就，像1975年自倫敦巡迴演唱時收錄的現場演唱版No Woman,No Cry live雖然沒進過排行榜，但在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜獲得第37名，Grammy與搖滾樂名人堂也都收進這首歌，No Woman,No Cry歌詞創意來自Bob Marley幼年住過的Trench Town貧民窟的回憶，Bob Marley寫這首歌給他太太Rita，但是有人說為了經濟上幫他童年的玩伴Vincent”Tata”Ford，讓他的湯廚能繼續開下去，所以給他也掛名共同創作，但事實上是二人一起寫的歌，Tata也於2008年底因糖尿病併發症去世。

Bob Marley的兒子Damian和Ziggy Marley也先後踏入歌壇。

Nancy Sinatra豪宅轉手

法蘭克辛納屈的名星女兒Nancy Sinatra南西辛納屈，最近把她比佛利山莊8000平方英呎的豪宅賣了530萬美元，1998年她買的時候只花了230萬美元。

1998年去世的法蘭克辛納屈（82歲），被譽為二十世紀最有名的流行歌手，女兒Nancy Sinatra克紹箕裘，繼承其父的影歌双棲路線，Nancy 1940年出生於紐澤西州Jersey City，但是在洛杉磯成長，是法蘭克辛納屈的第一個小孩， 1960年Nancy初次上電視，就由她父親與貓王Elvis Presley陪伴一同出場，可謂聲勢驚人，但後來她也沒丟父親的臉，唱了不少動聽的歌，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲得第270名。

前The Four Seasons合唱團的主唱Frankie Valli ，2004年因他提出離婚而分居的妻子最近告上法庭，要求Frankie支付她們夫妻間打官司的費用，因為靠百老匯音樂劇Jersey Boys「澤西男孩」加上版稅的收入，聽說Frankie一個月能賺五十萬美金，他不是付不起，而且他已經每個月給他老婆三萬元。


The Four Seasons是歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜第32名的超級合唱團，Frankie Valli的歌聲也使這個團体成為1960年代英國搖滾大舉入侵美國之時，最受歡迎的美國本土合唱團之一，The Four Seasons於1955年由Frankie Valli於紐澤西州Newark領銜組成，團名用過the Variatones、the Four Lovers，1961年改名The Four Seasons（這名字選自紐澤西的一家保齡球館），它們的暢銷曲很多，如：Sherry、Big Girl Don’t Cry、Walk Like A Man、Rag Doll、December,1963（Oh What A Night）等都是冠軍曲，百老匯音樂劇Jersey Boys「澤西男孩」就是根據他們的故事改編於2005年11月6日推出的。

Frankie Valli 1965年開始個人的歌唱事業，唱出多首抒情歌曲，如：Can’t Take My Eyes Off You、My Eyes Adored You、Swearing To God與電影Grease「火爆浪子」的插曲Grease等，Frankie Valli在歷年暢消歌星排行榜後來也獲得第358名。

Frankie Valli的Can’t Take My Eyes Off You是1967年獲得過第2名的歌，在版權組織BMI所統計全美最常播出百名歌曲榜，它是第5名的歌，翻唱過這首歌的歌星與合唱團非常多，其中我覺得最好聽的有1968年混聲合唱團Lettermen曾推出的Going Out Of My Head/Can’t Take My Eyes Off You混合曲（第7名），另一首1980年代來自舊金山的舞曲合唱團Boys Town Gang在1982年翻唱的這首歌，在荷蘭得到排行榜冠軍。

Queen的Bohemian Rhapsody

1975年的今天（11/23）Queen的Bohemian Rhapsody這首歌在英國排行榜上獲得冠軍，而且連續9週之久，推廣這首歌的短片被認為是第一支Music Video音樂短片，但只花了五英磅的製作費，當年Queen準備推出這首歌的時候，很多唱片製作人建議他們一首5分55秒長的單曲很難成為一首暢銷曲。


Queen是一個來自英國的搖滾樂團，主唱Freddie Mercury 1946年出生於非州坦桑尼亞的桑吉巴，1991年的明天（11/24）死於愛滋病。

Queen是一個全球知名的合唱團，唱出的好歌很多，在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜獲得119名，他們的We Will Rock You在各種体育活動的場合與電視轉播常可聽到，而原先不被看好的Bohemian Rhapsody除了在英國獲得9週冠軍外，1976年曾獲美國排行榜第9名，並被選入Grammy與搖滾樂名人堂，也是滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜第163名的歌，1992年因電影Wayne’s World「反斗智多星」選它當插曲，使重新發片的這首歌更上層樓在美國獲排行榜第2名。

1960年代早期幾首懷念的旋律如："Catch A Falling Star," "Johnny Angel," 和"Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini,"的作曲者Lee Pockriss， 11月14日在他的故鄉康乃狄克州Bridgeport去世（87歲），Lee其他的作品還有"My Little Corner Of TheWorld" 與"playground In My Mind."，他大部份的歌都與作詞人Paul Vance合作。


而前面提到的Lee Pockriss與Paul Vance合作的歌中，只有"playground In My Mind."是一首1973年獲得第2名的暢銷曲，這首歌由Clint Holmes與Paul Vance當年還是小朋友的兒子Phillp合唱，非常可愛。

Patti LaBelle脾氣不小

女歌手Patti LaBelle再次挨告，這一回她是因為在紐約公寓的大廳拿半瓶水砸一位抱著一歲半小孩的母親，Patti 說她只是對這個幼稚園老師”搖動一下手臂”而已。 Patti LaBelle上一次被別人告是二十個月前在休士頓機場跟一位西點軍校的學員吵架，這位大嬸脾氣還真不小。


Patti LaBelle這位R＆B女歌手 1944年出生於賓州費城，1962 年是The Belles四重唱的團員，團中另一位Cindy Birdsong 1967年離團去加入The Supremes（Diana Ross的合唱團），1971年The Belles改叫LaBelle，1977年該團解散，Patti LaBelle走個人演唱之路，1962-2004年她一共有48首R＆B暢銷曲。

Patti LaBelle是歷年暢銷歌星排行榜第306名的成功歌手，她在流行與R＆B排行榜都獲得冠軍的歌是1975年的Lady Marmalade，這首歌獲選入葛萊美獎名人堂，在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜獲得第479名。

1961年由Barbara George所唱紅的I Know(You Don't Love Me No More)，在流行歌曲排行榜曾經獲得過第3名，這首歌當年在台灣紅得不得了，不過大概三、四年級的歌迷們才有印象了，Barbara George其實是一位黑人R＆B女歌手與作曲人，她的這首I Know (You Don't Love Me No More)在1962年就由黑人R＆B歌手Jimmy Norman唱出了所謂的answer song-"I Don't Love You No More (I Don't Care About You)"，這首歌在流行歌曲排行榜只獲得過第47名，但在黑人R＆B歌曲排行榜名次較好獲得過第21名。


Answer song「回應歌曲」最早流行於1930-1950年代的Blues藍調歌曲和R＆B節奏與藍調歌曲，但最紅的時候是1950-1960年代的鄉村歌曲，通常由一位女歌手唱一首歌回應男歌手，像貓王Elvis Presley的Are You Lonesome Tonight？（1960）就有Thelma Carpenter與Dodie Stevens唱了Yes,I’m Lonesome Tonight來回應（1961），其餘如Jim Reeves的He’ll Have To Go（1959）有Jeanne Black的He’ll Have To Stay（1960）來回應，Lesley Gore的Judy’s Turn To Cry（1963）則回應她自己同年的It’s My Party（And I’ll Cry If I Want To），當然answer song也不盡然是情歌，像Woody Guthrie的經典歌曲This Land Is Your Land（1940）回應Irving Berlin 1918年所寫1938年修正的God BlessAmerica。

John Lennnon一顆牙賣三萬美金

已故The Beatles披頭合唱團團員John Lennon的一顆牙齒11月5日拍賣，這顆被John的前管家保留下來的齵齒，被一位加拿大的牙醫以$31,200美金標下。


John Lennon 1940年出生於英國利物浦，1980年12月8日在紐約曼哈頓遭槍擊身亡（40歲），他是The Beatles的創團團員，從1969年開始的個人演唱生涯也留下了很好的成績，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲得第163名（The Beatles獲得第2名），John與第一任妻子Cynthia Powell的兒子Julian Lennon是Beatles5四名團員第一個小孩，Julian在1980年代也曾闖盪歌壇，披頭合唱團的名曲Hey Jude也因他得名。

The Beatles團員Paul Mccartney於1970年4月10日正式宣佈披頭合唱團解散，其實在1969年John Lennon就以John Lennon And The Plastic Ono Band之名推出個人的單曲Give Peace A Chance，對政治很有主見的他，以這首歌表達他對越戰進行中的當年國際局勢的看法。

John Lennon於1991年獲Grammy終生成就獎，1994年獲選入搖滾樂名人堂。

祝Andy Williams早日康復

 根據媒体報導Andy Williams因為侵入性的膀胱癌，10月31 日開始在休士頓的一所醫院進行三週的化療，Andy所有的密蘇里Branson劇場表示：因為健康因素Andy今年恐怕無法在聖誕節的現場節目現身，Andy Williams今年高齡84歲。


Andy Williams 1927年出生於愛阿華州Wall Lake，;最早與自家兄弟合組過四重唱，也與Bing Crosby平克勞斯貝及諧星Kay Thompson合作過，1952年開始個人的演唱生涯，除歌唱外他也主持NBC的電視節目（1962-1967），Donny Osmond還是小朋友的時候與哥哥們的The Osmonds合唱團，就從參加他的節目演出開始走紅，後來葛萊美獎頒獎大會也都請他主持，Andy Williams暢銷曲很多，在台灣也因無線台播過他的節目而極受歡迎，前幾年年近80 的他曾來台北在小巨蛋開過演唱會，他在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜上是第52名的巨星，被譽為美國最佳抒情歌手。

Andy Williams有一首很有意義但未進過排行榜的歌May Each Day，就以這首歌祝福他早日康復了！

Lynn Anderson母親過世

鄉村歌曲作曲人與歌星Liz Anderson10月31日去世（80歲），Liz Anderson是一位成功的鄉村歌手，1967年曾獲兩項葛萊美獎提名，其中之一是她自己寫的"Mama Spank"提名「最佳女聲演唱獎」，另 一首歌是她與Bobby Bare和Norma Jean三人合唱的"The Game of Triangles"提名「最佳鄉村歌曲合唱團獎」，這二首歌都獲得鄉村歌曲排行榜前5名，而Liz Anderson也替Merle Haggard寫過暢銷曲"All My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers"和"I'm a Lonesome Fugitive"，後來Merle Haggard因而把他的樂隊取名"The Strangers"。


Liz Anderson 1965年因試唱帶獲RCA製作人也是名吉它手Chet Atkins賞識而與RCA簽約，除了前面介紹的二首歌外，她其它暢銷曲還有"Go Now Pay Later" (1966), "The Wife of the Party" (1967), "Tiny Tears" (1967), "Thanks A Lot For Tryin' Anyway" (1968) (一首非她自己寫的歌), 與"Husband Hunting" (1970).。

Liz Anderson的先生是Casey Anderson，他們只有一個女兒，就是1970年以Rose Garden一曲成名的Lynn Anderson，1966-1989年Lynn Anderson有60首歌進入鄉村歌曲排行榜，台灣樂友較少機會聽鄉村歌曲，但對Rose Garden這首歌應不陌生，這首歌在1970年曾得到流行歌曲排行榜第3名，也是BMI全美最常播出100首歌曲排行榜第99名的歌。

Robin Gibb取消演出

Bee Gee 的團員Robin Gibb 10月27日被迫取消一場在倫敦為英國王室的演出，因為他病得很重無法唱歌，Robin最近才剛出院，他因結腸炎住院二次，Robin同時也取消了週一與英國首相之約，他們本來要會面研究出一首慈善單曲的事。


Robin Gibb 1949年出生於英國曼徹斯特，是Bee Gee三兄弟合唱團中另一位Maurice的双生兄弟，Bee Gee是歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜第27名的超級合唱團体，1960年代後期起他們的抒情歌曲和1970年代後期轉型演唱包括電影Saturday Night Fever「週末的狂熱」插曲在內的迪斯可節奏歌曲，讓他們在不同世代歌迷心目中都留下深刻的印象。

Bee Gee三兄弟的另一位弟弟Andy Gibb在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜也是獲得第294名的紅歌手，可惜1988年30歲時就已去世，而Maurice Gibb則於2003年不幸去世，Robin與Maurice因是双生兄弟，二人也都有結腸方面類似病況，其實頗令人擔憂。

Robin Gibb個人的單曲名次最好的是1978年Bee Gee與Peter Frampton合演取材自Beatles名曲的電影Sgt.Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band當中的插曲Oh Darling，曾獲第15名，而1984年的Boys Do Fall In Love雖然只獲得37名，卻是極受年輕朋友歡迎的一首舞曲。

「礦工的女兒」病了

「礦工的女兒」Loretta Lynn 10月24日自醫院出院，76歲的她因為初發性肺炎於上週末住院，原本上週末開始在肯塔基州Ashland和北卡羅萊納州Durham所舉行的二場演唱會也不得不重行安排。


Loretta Lynn 1935年出生於肯塔基州的Butcher Holler，能唱歌、作曲、彈吉它，1960年至2000年有78首歌進過鄉村歌曲排行榜，其中有16首歌獲得冠軍，另一位以演唱Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.出名的歌星Crystal Gayle是她妹妹，Loretta Lynn 另二位妹妹Jay Lee Webb 與Peggy Sue也都是知名鄉村歌手。

1980年的電影Coal Miner’s Daughter「礦工的女兒」即改編自Loretta Lynn的自傳，由Sissy Spacek西西史派克與Tommy Lee Jones湯米李瓊斯主演的此片，有Loretta Lynn許多好聽的歌穿插其中，但由Sissy Spacek與另一位參加演出的女星Beverly D’Angelo（演已故歌后Patsy Cline）翻唱，傳神的演出也替西西史派克拿下奧斯卡金像獎影后。

Loretta Lynn 所唱的Coal Miner’s Daughter是1970年鄉村歌曲排行榜冠軍歌曲，在熱門歌曲排行榜只獲得83名，但被收進葛萊美獎名人堂。

Dion是歷年暢銷歌星排行榜第77名的1960年代巨星，本名Dion DiMucci，1939年出生於紐約Bronx，他早期以Dion＆The Belmonts及後來個人演唱生涯有11首排行榜Top 10的暢銷曲，除了前面提及的Runaround Sue是1961年的2週冠軍曲，The Wanderer是1961年第2名的歌，另外一首1968年獲得過第4名的Abraham，Martin And John則是Dion非常有名的歌，這首歌是Richard Holler向美國四位遇刺身亡的政治人物Abraham Lincoln、Martin Luther King及John 與Robert Kennedy致敬所寫的歌。

Lulu獲終身成就獎

1948年出生於蘇格蘭Glasgow的英國女歌星與演員Lulu ，10月18日於倫敦獲頒終身成就獎，Lulu是在1967年由黑人影帝Sidney Poitier薛尼鮑迪主演的電影To Sir With Love當中演出，並演唱同名主題曲而成名，1969-1973年曾嫁給Bee Gees團員Maurice Gibb。


Maurice Gibb於2003年1月12日因病去世（53歲），他的孿生兄弟Robin Gibb 近年來也健康狀況不佳，10月13日曾在英國老家附近醫院住院，他與Maurice同樣有結腸方面的問題，但經過診療後，17日星期一已經出院。

To Sir With Love這首歌是1967年的5週冠軍曲，一位黑人老師把一群放牛班的白人學生成功的帶上正途，在離職之前Lulu代表全班同學演唱這首歌表達感謝之情…，幾十年了，始終難忘那感人的畫面，好歌。

The Charlie Daniels Band的鍵琴手Joel "Taz" DeGregorio 10月12日於Nashville以西跨州公路不幸因車禍喪生（67歲），Joel當時從Nashville前往喬治亞州加入該合唱團的一場演唱會，Joel "Taz" DeGregorio是the Charlie Daniels Band的名曲"The Devil Went Down To Georgia"的作曲人之一。


The Charlie Daniels Band是一個Country-Rock鄉村搖滾合唱團，由Charlie Daniels 領銜組成，此人善於小提琴演奏，早年在離開the Jaguars合唱團之後除了從事個人的演唱事業外也在Nashville這個鄉村音樂之都的錄音界做樂師，因而參與過Bob Dylan著名的專輯唱片Nashville Skyline之錄製工作，這個合唱團在John Travolta與Debra Winger主演的電影Urban Cowboy「都市牛仔」當中曾現身演唱"The Devil Went Down To Georgia"這首歌，而"The Devil Went Down To Georgia"在熱門歌曲排行榜上獲得二週第3名，也是CMA美國鄉村音樂協會1979年票選的年度歌曲。

"The Devil Went Down To Georgia"這首歌講的是一位年輕人Johnny與魔鬼用小提琴演奏打賭的故事，是一首有趣的歌，其中有Charlie Daniels的小提琴精彩演奏，這是一首非典型的鄉村歌曲。

R＆B合唱團The Tymes的創始團員Donald Banks 10月7日病逝，Donald於1956年與Albert Berry、Norman Burnett及George Hilliard 在費城組成The Latineers合唱團，1960年改名The Tymes，並且增加George Williams當主唱，他們推出的"So Much In Love" (#1-1963), "Wonderful Wonderful" (#7-1963) 與"Somewhere" (#19-1964)成績都不錯。

1969年這個合唱團事業走下坡，沒有一家唱片公司給他們合約，他們只能在費城附近的俱樂部走唱。四年之後他們終於與RCA 唱片簽約，再次推出的"You Little Trustmaker"獲得第12名，接著的"Ms. Grace"雖然在美國排行榜只得到91名，但在英國排行榜得了冠軍，The Tymes後來又加了二名女團員Terri Gonzales與Melanie Moore，但不再有單曲進入排行榜，Donald Banks於1977年離團而去，當了速食店經理，1980年曾回來與老友們做老歌回顧演唱。

The Tymes於2005年被選入以演唱為主的合唱團名人堂。

天才音樂家Roger Williams去世

從1955 年到1972年一共有30首曲子進入過排行榜的鋼琴手Roger Williams ，10月8日在洛杉磯家中去世（87歲） 。


Roger Williams 1924年10月1日出生於內布拉斯加州的Omaha，成長於愛阿華州Des Moines，在就讀Idaho State University, Drake University二所大學與紐約茱莉亞音樂學院之前，他就能玩12種樂器，但最喜歡鋼琴，1952年他因為參加電視才藝競賽節目得獎而與唱片公司簽約，但一直到1955年他錄了排行榜4週冠軍曲Autumn Leaves才算發揮他天賦的潛能，Roger Williams其它的暢銷曲還有Near You (#10-1958)、Almost Paradise (#15-1957) 與Born Free (#7-1966)。

Roger Williams錄過一百多張專輯唱片，曾應邀為九位美國總統演出，1960年就在好萊塢名人道獲得一顆星的榮譽，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜亦獲得第275名。

Roger Williams 1966年為電影「獅子與我」所演奏的主題曲Born Free後段配有混聲合唱，這首歌曾獲奧斯卡最佳電影歌曲獎，也是BMI全美最常播出百首歌曲榜第86名的歌。

Born Free後來也由英國抒情歌手Matt Monro重唱過，雖然排行榜名次不高，但因電影的關係，純演唱版也頗歌迷們受歡迎（Matt Monro 1985年54歲時已因肝癌去世）。

George Harrison記錄片首映

Paul McCartney 與Rinso Starr二位仍在世的The Beatles前披頭合唱團成員，10月2日在倫敦參加了大導演Martin Scorsese所拍的記錄片"George Harrison: Living In The Material World."的首映會，這片子10月4日在戲院先演一次晚場，11月的時候BBC才會在BBC-TV播出，這部記錄片10月2日也在愛阿華州Fairfield辦首映會，10月4日美國首演則安排在HBO播出。


George Harrison 1943年出生於英國利物普，1958年就參加John Lennon與Paul McCartney所組的The Quarrymen合唱團，後來順理成章的成了The Beatles的主要吉它手，披頭合唱團解散後，1971年George Harrison在紐約麥迪遜廣場辦了救援孟加拉難民的演唱會，他也是1980年代尾的超級合唱團Traveling Wilburys的成員，2001年11月29日因癌症去世。

George Harrison在The Beatles的時代主唱過Something、While My Guitar Gently Weeps與Here Comes The Sun三首暢銷曲，個人名次最好的歌即是救援孟加拉難民演唱會專輯中的四週冠軍曲my Sweet Lord。

George Harrison於 1992年即為Billboard雜誌選為世紀歌星， 2004年獲選入搖滾樂名人堂。

Sylvia與第一首進入排行榜的rap歌曲

以1957年與Mickey Baker合作以Mickey and Sylvia二重唱之名推出曾獲第11名的Love Is Strange，和以Sylvia之名推出的1973年第3名的Pillow Talk（這二首歌在R&B榜都獲睇2名）成名的Sylvia Vanderpool Robinson,9月23日不幸去世（75歲），Sylvia出生於紐約哈林區，1950年即以Little Sylvia之名踏入唱片界，Mickey Baker教她彈吉它並於1955年開始成為歌壇搭擋，他們有8首歌進過排行榜，後來Mickey到巴黎去發展，Sylvia則嫁給Joe Robinson，夫妻倆開了All-Platinum and Vibration唱片公司，培養出Donnie Elbert 和 Shirley and Company，1973 年Sylvia東山再起，她的Pillow Talk與另外3首歌重回排行榜。


夫妻倆接著把公司改名Sugar Hill Records，旗下合唱團Sugar Hill Gang 的 "Rapper's Delight" 在1980年獲得第36名，這也是第一首進入排行榜的rap歌曲，Sylvia 與Joe夫妻二人成為rap音樂的開路先鋒。

Sylvia 與Joe夫婦後來離婚，Sylvia又開了Bon Ami Records，她的努力為她贏得了hip-hop,之母的稱號，她與Joe Robinson的兒子Joey則組了舞曲合唱團West Street Mob，1981 及 1982年曾有歌曲進過排行榜。

Jessy Dixon與Phoebe Snow

一個演唱福音歌曲的合唱團Jessy Dixon Singers的領隊Jessy Dixon，9月26日在故鄉芝加哥去世（73歲），他曾與Paul Simon合作過二張專輯唱片，一度也受雇擔任過象棋唱片公司的主奏吉它手，Jessy Dixon Singers的歌聲在Paul Simon 與 Phoebe Snow合唱的1975年暢銷曲Gone At Last當中可以聽到，這首歌是Paul Simon的專輯唱片Still Crazy After All Thess Years當中的一首單曲，曾獲得第23名。


Phoebe Snow 1952年出生於紐約，是一位民歌手，她的Poetry Man曾獲排行榜第5名，是她的成名曲。

The Ides of March的喇叭手去世

The Ides of March的喇叭手John Larson 9月22日因癌症引起的併發症，不幸於印地安納州的Warsaw去世（61歲），他於1960年代後期加入The Ides of March，他喇叭的吹奏在Vehicle這首歌當中可以明顯聽到，紀念John Larson的活動預訂11月舉辦。


The Ides of March是來自芝加哥的搖滾樂團，團名摘自沙莎士比亞的作品Julius Caesar，他們唯一Top 40的暢銷曲就是這首Vehicle，這首歌1970年獲得過第2名。

Barry Manilow國會遊說

Barry Manilow九月十五日在美國眾議院進行遊說，希望能增加心臟病研究的基金，Barry Manilow九月十三日說他因心房纖維顫動有問題導致心律不整，他希望他的聲音能成為為加強認識這種病的醫療而進行的活動方案的一部份。


Barry Manilow 1943年出生於紐約布魯克林，是歷年暢銷歌星排行榜排第75名的巨星，除演唱外也擅長鋼琴及作曲，他曾在著名的紐約茱莉亞音樂學院就讀，1972年擔任Bette Midler伴奏，後來還當Bette前二張專輯唱片的製作人，他因替百事可樂、State Farm保險公司、麥當勞等大客戶寫廣告歌及客串演唱而知名，後來唱了不少動聽的歌，是流行歌壇頂尖的抒情歌手。

Barry Manilow有Mandy、I Write The Songs、Looks Like We Made It三首排行榜冠軍曲，但是我最喜歡他1978 年第11名的歌Ready To Take A Chance Again，這首歌是Goldie Hawn歌蒂韓與Chevy Chase西維蔡斯聯合主演的喜劇片Foul Play「小迷糊闖七關」的插曲，全劇開始不久，歌蒂韓在舊金山郊區參加朋友的派對後遶著山路開車回市區，背景就是配上這首歌，然後開始令人笑破肚皮的劇情，當年看過後始終回味無窮，也特別喜歡這首歌，推薦這首歌給你，也推薦給你這部很棒的老片。

Archie Bell告老東家

R＆B合唱團 Archie Bell＆The Drells的主唱歌手Archie Bell ， 9月6日在休士頓控告費城國際唱片公司和它們的老闆-唱片製作人Kenny Gamble與Leon Huff，指控他們未付1970與1980年代他所錄製的唱片的版稅。


Archie Bell＆The Drells是以1968年的連續二週冠軍曲Tighten Up成名的R＆B合唱團，原屬Atlantic唱片公司旗下，1977年轉Philadelphia International Records費城國際唱片公司，但歌唱事業已走下坡。

Archie Bell 1944年出生於德州Henderson，他與The Drells合唱團在R＆B歌曲的歷年暢銷歌星合唱團排行榜名列第263名，成名曲Tighten Up被收進搖滾樂名人堂，在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜獲得265名。

桃樂絲黛年近90還有新專輯問世

現年已80多歲的影歌雙棲巨星Doris Day桃樂絲黛最近創一新記錄，她是英國專輯唱片排行榜能以新作品進入前10名的最老的藝人，Doris Day的新專輯My Heart最近進入英國排行榜獲得第9名。


Doris Day本名Doris Kappelhoff ，1922年出生於俄亥俄州的辛辛那提，她以「鄰家女孩」的受歡迎形象演過39部電影，出過29張專輯唱片，她主演的電影Pillow Talk「枕邊細語」曾獲奧斯卡金像獎提名，後來得到金球獎，2008年她也獲葛萊美終生成就獎，在搖滾樂流行之前的1948-1954年, Doris Day有32首排行榜暢銷曲，其中有Love Somebody、A Guy Is A Guy、Secret Love三首冠軍曲。

Doris Day在搖滾樂流行的1955年之後的排行榜中名次最好的歌是1956年連續三週第2名的Whatever Will Be ，Will Be（Que Sera，Sera），這首歌是Doris Day桃樂絲黛與James Stewart詹姆士史都華主演的電影The Man Who Knew Too Much「擒兇記」插曲，也是當年奧斯卡金像獎最佳電影歌曲，希區考克的這部片子是電影中的經典，桃樂絲黛的這首插曲更是令當代的影迷永難忘懷。

Neil Diamond將三度結婚

Neil Diamond9月7日和他的經紀人Katie McNeil宣佈訂婚，Neil希望歌迷們給他祝福，Neil Diamond現年70歲，這將是他第三度結婚，Katie 幫Neil Diamond製作過2009年記錄片Neil Diamond: Hot August Night NYC，也幫Heart、 Public Enemy 與Motley Crue這些合唱團製作過記錄片。


Neil Diamond還有其他好消息，他9月7日同時宣布12月4號他將到甘迺迪中心與其他四人一同獲獎，在華盛頓的頒獎儀式之前，Neil Diamond將會與歐巴馬總統見面，活動錄影12月27日將於CBS電視網播出，而12月3日國務院將會先頒發獎章。

Neil Diamond 1941年出生於紐約，是一位Pop-rock歌手、吉它手與多產作曲人，1960年代中期他為The Monkees的電視影集寫歌而嶄露頭角，1980年他還主演過電影The Jazz Singer「吾父、吾愛、吾子」，表現還不錯，他是1966-1986年全美最受歡迎的男歌星，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜獲得第25名。

Connie Stevens 於多倫多獲表揚

1960年代早期走紅的影、視、歌三棲女藝人Connie Stevens 與當年的加拿大籍偶像歌手Bobby Curtola，九月4日在多倫多學院街的義大利名人走道一共六人同獲表揚。


Connie Stevens 1938年於紐約布魯克林出生，因為在電視影集Hawaiian Eye「夏威夷之眼」中演一位歌星Cricket Blake而出名，也演過很多電影，在Debbie Reynolds與Elizabeth Taylor之後嫁給男歌星Eddie Fisher，以演戲為主的她，在流行歌壇也有幾首受歡迎的歌，如：Kookie Kookie（Lend Me Your Comb）、Sixteen Reasons及Mr.Songwriter，其中名次最好的歌是1960年第3名的Sixteen Reasons，這首歌非常好聽，是1960年代早期由女聲所唱出最具代表性的流行曲。

王子違約遭罰巨款

紐約地方法院的法官9月2日判處Prince要賠將近400萬美元給一家香水公司，這家公司以Prince的形象與音樂開發出一種古龍水，但Prince一直沒有配合當初承諾的促銷推廣。


Prince原名Prince Roger Nelson，1958年出生於明尼蘇達州的Minneapolis，父親是Prince Roger Trio三重唱的領隊，所以替兒子取了Prince Roger這名字，Prince 能唱歌、作曲、玩多種樂器，也擔任唱片製作人，他屬於天才型的音樂人，初中時代即組了Grand Central樂隊，1978年出第一張專輯唱片，後來還在Purple Rain「紫雨」、Under The Cherry Moon、Sign “O” The Times、Graffiti Bridge等幾部電影擔綱演出，他的合唱團叫The Revolution及The New Power Generation，他也培養出Wendy＆Lisa、Shelia E、Apollonia 6與Vanity等1980年代走紅歌手及團体。

Prince是歷年暢銷歌星排行榜第17名的巨星，2004年獲選入搖滾樂名人堂，他一共有5首排行冠軍、3首第2名、3首第3名的歌，其中最有代表性的是1984年獲得5週冠軍的When Doves Cry，這首歌在滾石雜誌歷年最受歡迎的500首歌曲榜獲得第52名。

藝人第二代力爭上游

Sonny ＆ Cher變性的兒子Chaz Bono將在美國ABC電視網下一季的"Dancing With The Stars"「與明星共舞」節目中參加競賽，這個消息是8月30日公佈的，而the Mamas & the Papas合唱團的John Phillips 與Michelle Phillips的女兒Chynna Phillips也會參加這個節目的比賽，下一季的「與明星共舞」將在9月19日開始播出。


Sonny Bono於1988-1992年當過加州棕櫚泉市的市長，1994年還當選眾議員，可惜1988年滑雪失事喪生（62歲），不過已是好萊塢繼雷根、阿諾、克林伊斯威特等人之外又一藝人從政成功的例子。

John Phillips於2001年因心臟病去世（65歲），他女兒Chynna Phillips與the Beach Boys合唱團的主要團員Brian Wilson的兩個女兒Carnie及Wendy 1990年代初期曾合組Wilson Phillips女聲三重唱，在歷年暢銷歌星與合唱團排行榜還擠進前500名（472名）她們有3首排行榜冠軍曲：Hold On、Release Me及You’re In Love，其中Release Me成績最好（這首歌與Englebert Humperdink1967年第4名的Release Me並非同一首歌），在1990年曾連續二週獲第一名。

Motown唱片故人凋零

前黑人歌唱界的大本營Motown唱片公司的老闆 Berry Gordy, Jr 的姐姐，也曾一度擔任該公司副總裁與執行長的Esther Gordy Edwards，8月24日在底特律去世（91歲），Esther晚年在該公司原址為Motown博物館的創設工作出力。這個培育出很多黑人歌唱界巨星的Motown唱片公司，已於1988年7月被MCA公司收購，1993年納入「寶麗金唱片」（PolyGram）旗下。


Motown唱片公司旗下的歌手、作曲人與製作人Nick Ashford8月22日在紐約去世（70歲），Nick 1963年與Valerie Simpson在教會認識，曾以Valerie & Nick之名灌唱片，但沒有走紅，後來他們的California Soul讓the 5th Dimension唱紅，另一首Let's Go Get Stoned甚至使Ray Charles在R&B排行榜獲得冠軍，這些成就使他們被吸收進Motown唱片公司，他們帶給Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell的暢銷曲有Ain't No Mountain High Enough、Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing、和You're All I Need To Get By等，甚至傳言Marvin Gaye 的搭擋已故的Tammi Terrell當年得腦瘤在醫療時有些歌是Valerie Simpson代唱的，Nick Ashford與Valerie Simpson這對曲詞搭擋也寫了不少歌給Diana Ross如：Reach Out And Touch、Remember Me與The Boss，還有Chaka Khan的I'm Every Woman，Nick 和Valerie 1973年改名Ashford & Simpson灌唱，曾經有8首歌進流行歌曲榜，35首歌進R&B榜，他們倆並於1874年結婚，1996年他們在紐約開了餐廳，並獲選進作曲家名人堂。

Ashford & Simpson最有名的歌是1985年暢銷曲 Solid，這首歌在流行榜獲得第12名，在 R&B則獲得冠軍。

作詞人Jerry Leiber於洛杉磯去世

8月22日星期一 ，以貓王Elvis Presley的暢銷曲"Hound Dog" 、"Jailhouse Rock"和 "Kansas City" "Charlie Brown" 與"Love Potion #9"這些歌出名的作詞人Jerry Leiber於洛杉磯去世（78歲），Jerry Leiber出生於巴爾第摩，他與搭擋Mike Stoller儘管是白種猶太人，但都喜歡黑人的R＆B歌曲，他門先後開過Spark Records 與Red Birds Records 二家唱片公司，培養了the Drifters、 Ben E. King 、 Jay & the Americans 與the Shangri-Las 、 Dixie Cups 這些有名的團体，名曲則有"There Goes My Baby"、 "Young Blood"、 "Searchin'"、 "Spanish Harlem"、 "Ruby Baby"、 "Yakety Yak"、 "Black Denim Trousers"、 "Hard Headed Woman" 、"On Broadway"、 "Only In America" 和"Is That All There Is." 等，Jerry Leiber與Mike Stoller 這二位詞曲搭檔在1987年先後被選入作曲家名人堂與搖滾樂名人堂，2009年還出版了他們的自傳。


貓王的Hound Dog這首歌與唱片反面的Don't Be Cruel在1957年曾獲11週冠軍，是滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜第19名的歌，也是搖滾樂紀元的1955年至1959年的1950年代冠軍歌曲。

Hound Dog這首歌貓王Elvis Presley最早在拉斯維加斯聽Willa "Big Mama" Thornton唱過，後來自己翻唱大受歡迎。

David Essex仍活躍於影視圈

David Essex最近辭掉英國肥皂劇Eastenders的演出以重新去搞他喜歡的音樂，他之前五個月都在該劇中出現，預定有他演出的最後播出日將在10月11日。

Kiss 合唱團的吉它手Paul Stanley老來得女，他太太Erin 8月9日生了他們第三個小孩Emily，Paul Stanley出生於1952年1月20日，現在照中國人的講法已經60歲做祖父的年紀了，不過還是恭喜他啦。
Kiss 合唱團是於紐約組成的重搖滾劇場樂團，除Paul Stanley之外另一位首席吉它手是Ace Frehley，貝斯手Gene Simmons，鼓手Peter Criss，團員們都能唱，他們早年以有點像我們中國人唱平劇般的化妝在劇場表演知名，1983年在團員經過一番更替後才首度以真面目出現在專輯Lick It Up封面上。
